The application of carbon nanotubes to enhance bitumen properties is relevant due the need increase durability asphalt concrete pavements and reduce maintenance costs. Key areas requiring further study include processes during ultrasonic dispersion, selection optimal medium, stability resulting dispersions. This examines dispersions containing multi-walled (MWCNTs) Taunit M (from 5·10−4 5·10−2%) various hydrocarbon plasticizers. For first time, change in Gibbs free energy, enthalpy (interaction energy), mixing disordering entropy was calculated based on experimental data (surface tension, average cubic diameter MWCNTs, molecular mass, etc.). were compared with storage polymer-modified binders (PMBs). It found that plays a key role forming thermodynamically stable dispersions, while contribution minimal. High dispersion MWCNTs can at high concentrations despite growth. Systems selective purification extracts showed best PMB thermodynamic instability. property changes after 3 days 180 °C no more than 5%. suggests structural from component interactions are critical, highlighting for an integrated approach considering both macroscopic properties.

Abstract The triblock elastomeric copolymer Styrene-Butadiene-Styrene (SBS) improves the engineering properties of bitumen and performance parameters flexible pavements. Although research investigations have been conducted worldwide, literature lacks a comprehensive review to provide up-to-date status in this field. current summarizes findings on compatibility, stability, physical properties, microscopic characterization, chemical characterization SBS modified bitumen. Quantitative analysis test results concerning major pavement distresses shows improvement, particularly high-temperature zones. interlocked state phase transition can be achieved at content between 5%–6% optimum has reported lie within range. blending temperature varies 140 °C–210 °C out which 180 is most frequently used by researchers. In addition, characteristics aged binder reviewed. Aging indices (residual penetration ratio, change softening point, viscosity aging residual ductility ratio) didn’t show any consistent trend, establishes need exploring co-additives substantially improve deterioration. Preliminary nano-additives showed improved storage stability high This drawn essential conclusions highlights existing gaps for peer researchers field engineers.
