Introduction High ground stress in deep mining operations results rocks exhibiting mechanical properties that differ from those at shallow depths. This study conducted conventional triaxial compression (CTC) tests to elucidate themechanical behaviors of marble under CTC conditions. Methods Initially, it analyzed energy evolution conditions and developed a damage variable ( D ) expression. Subsequently, we examined impacts confining pressure σ 3 on dissipated W d Poisson’s ratio μ′ proposed an expression for dissipation rate U ). Finally, based the first law thermodynamics, established differential equation balance facilitated development constitutive model (DCM) effectively couples internal within rock. Results The indicated that: (1) maximum increased with increasing , experienced stages stability, slow growth, steady slowdown. (2) At constant loading level. However, as rock intensified residual stage, growth slowed subsequently stabilized. (3) captures nonlinear characteristics stress-strain (SS) curves during elastic, plastic yield, instability failure, stages. Discussion research offers theoretical insights stability analysis activities.
