Lowering the storage temperature is an effective method to extend postharvest and shelf life of fruits. Nevertheless, this technique often leads physiological disorders, commonly known as chilling injuries. Apples pears are susceptible injuries, among which superficial scald most economically relevant. Superficial due necrotic lesions first layers hypodermis manifested through skin browning. In peaches nectarines, injuries characterized by internal symptoms, such mealiness. Fruits with these aesthetic or compositional/structural defects not suitable for fresh consumption. Genetic variation a key factor in determining fruit susceptibility injuries; however, physiological, technical aspects harvest maturity conditions also play role. Multi-omics approaches have been used provide integrated explanation injury development. Metabolomics pome fruits specifically targets identification ethylene, phenols, lipids, oxidation products. Genomics transcriptomics revealed interesting connections metabolomic datasets, pinpointing specific genes linked cold stress, wax synthesis, farnesene metabolism, metabolic pathways ascorbate glutathione. When applied Prunus species, cutting-edge uncovered that development mealiness symptoms ethylene signaling, cell wall lipid stress genes, increased DNA methylation levels. Emphasizing findings from multi-omics studies, review reports how integration omics datasets can new insights into understanding This information essential successfully creating more resilient varieties developing novel strategies.

Abstract Storage or transportation temperature is very important for preserving the quality of fruit. However, low in sensitive fruit such as peach can induce loss quality. Fruit exposed to a specific range temperatures and longer period show chilling injury (CI) symptoms. The susceptibility CI at varies among cultivars genetic backgrounds. Along with agronomic management, appropriate postharvest management limit losses. importance correct during handling has been widely demonstrated. Nowadays, due long-distance markets complex logistics that require multiple actors, storage/transportation conditions crucial products reaching consumer. Peach activate suite physiological, metabolomic, molecular changes attempt counteract negative effects stress. In this review an overview factors involved, plant responses presented critically discussed. Physiological disorders associated generally only appear after storage/transportation, hence early detection methods are needed monitor detect internal which will lead development. tools assessed: they need be easy use, preferably non-destructive avoid products. This study evaluated the postharvest evolution in terms of quality and functional traits recently introduced mini plum tomato cultivars, differing for fruit pigmentation. The cultivars Santy Naranja (orange fruit) Melange (dark red, green-striped fruit), along with well-established ‘Angelle’ (red were monitored during refrigerated storage (10 °C) 0, 7, 14 days (hereafter S0, S7, S14, respectively) inside closed polylactic acid trays. ‘Melange’ displayed highest fresh weight loss total soluble solids (TSS) (9.28 °Bx), lowest firmness (4.69 N), whereas ‘Santy Naranja’ showed strongest color deviation period. Titratable acidity (TA) was relatively stable ‘Melange’, while experienced decrease between S7 resulting stronger TSS/TA fluctuations. Regarding traits, had polyphenols content (TPC), excelled carotenoid (TCC), ascorbic (AsA), fruits’ antioxidant activity, as revealed by 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) ferric reducing power (FRAP) assays. With reference to time, O2 concentration headspace, TPC, AsA, DPPH decreased S0 CO2 concentration, TCC, FRAP increased, but these variations mostly cultivar-dependent. provides insights into behavior novel typologies their ability maintain over providing information developing strategies preserve sensory nutraceutical characteristics storage.

Abstract Low-temperature storage is used to extend the shelf life of fruits, but prolonged at temperatures below tolerable levels may cause postharvest chilling injury (PCI) in sensitive commodities. This review aims highlight adenosine triphosphate (ATP) activation and interplay extracellular ATP (eATP) intracellular (iATP) fruits find out its significance mitigating PCI. Various pathways, such as Embden–Meyerhof–Parnas pathway, tricarboxylic acid cycle, pentose phosphate γ-aminobutyric shunt cytochrome are studied critically elucidate their role continuous supply maintaining membrane fluidity integrity. summarizes treatments helpful modulating energy metabolism fruit. Additionally, this work provides insights into status attenuating tolerance. Moreover, it states potential nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide Furthermore, discusses eATP receptor DORN1 stress.
