To enhance the corrosion resistance of cast iron surface, its application in extreme conditions has been expanded. The study investigates microstructure evolution and behavior nitriding layer created through pre-vacuum nitriding. X-ray diffractometer (XRD) analysis reveals presence Fe 3 N 4 layer. compound a thickness approximately 10 μm. hardness is more than twice that substrate, measuring at 560.2 HV 1 . In comparision to substrate's current density 5.45 × −6 A/cm 2 , potential −0.697 V rate 63.4 μm/year, nitrided shows significant improvements: reduced by 68%, shifts positive 0.104 V, decreases 65.9%. Additionally, layers exhibit outstanding friction-reducing properties, with friction coefficient 13% compared substrate.
