The current study investigates the thermal, metallurgical, and mechanical results in similar dissimilar weldments of Monel 400 AISI 316L. Infrared thermography (IRT) was employed to record thermal cycles, while X-ray diffraction (XRD) used analyze residual stresses post-welding. Mechanical properties were assessed through tensile microhardness tests, microstructural evolution examined using energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) scanning electron microscopy (SEM). IRT showed peak temperatures 1788 °C for 1750 Residual stress analysis revealed compressive 293 MPa welds, compared 235 57 Ultimate strength (UTS) values 543 533 400, 556 316L, with corresponding 207 HV, 203 168 respectively. Microstructural identified coarse Ni-Cu phases heat-affected zone (HAZ), austenitic structures intermetallic compounds welds. findings highlight impact distribution, stress, on weld performance, providing insights into optimized welding parameters improved joint integrity properties.
