The application of agrochemicals such as organophosphate pesticides (OPPs) has several benefits in agriculture but also poses great risks to the environment and human well-being. Thus, this study was conducted determine concentrations, distribution pattern, relationships, potential sources OPPs agricultural soils vegetables from Delta Central District (DCD) Nigeria provide useful information for pollution history, establishment control measures risk management. Fourteen were determined soil using a gas chromatograph-mass selective detector (GC-MSD). ∑14 concentrations varied 5.29 419 ng g−1 0.69 130 vegetables. On average, pirimiphos methyl (23.8 g−1) diazinone (4.74 dominant respectively. cumulative ecological assessed toxicity-exposure-ratio (TER) quotient (RQ) approaches revealed that there high organisms. increasing order toxicity organisms chlorpyriphos < fenitrothion while health suggested adverse non-carcinogenic children not adults exposed these

Abstract Gulf War Illness ( GWI ) is a chronic multi‐symptom disorder affecting veterans of the 1991 War. Among symptoms are those associated with sickness behavior, observations suggestive underlying neuroinflammation. We have shown that exposure mice to stress hormone, corticosterone CORT ), and diisopropyl fluorophosphate DFP as nerve agent mimic, results in marked neuroinflammation, findings consistent stress/neuroimmune basis . Here, we examined contribution irreversible reversible acetylcholinesterase AC hE) inhibitors neuroinflammation our mouse model Male C57 BL /6J received 4 days (400 mg/L) drinking water followed by single dose chlorpyrifos oxon CPO ; 8 mg/kg, i.p.), (4 pyridostigmine bromide (PB; 3 or physostigmine PHY 0.5 i.p.). alone caused cortical hippocampal assessed qPCR tumor necrosis factor‐alpha, IL ‐6, C–C chemokine ligand 2, ‐1β, leukemia inhibitory factor oncostatin M; pretreatment markedly augmented these effects. Additionally, prior enhanced activation signal transducer, transducer activator transcription (STAT3). In contrast, PB did not produce STAT3 activation. While all CNS ‐acting hE , decreased brain activity, abrogated effects for inhibitors. Taken together, suggest inhibitor‐induced particularly its exacerbation result from non‐cholinergic compounds, pointing potentially organophosphorylation other neuroimmune targets. image
