Abstract The effects of environmental degradation and climate change are propelling a discourse shift towards regenerative agriculture, yet understanding motivations for implementing practices on private agricultural lands is still challenge. We study that challenge within the realm ranching, subcategory agriculture. By examining frequency values articulated by respondents, valuation typology stemming from 24 semi-structured interviews with ranchers in Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota revealed. Instrumental valuations dominated studied region connection to ranching practices, although some respondents relational intrinsic tied their practices. Abstract Taking into account the perspectives of local stakeholders is essential for just and effective biodiversity conservation. Plural valuation, making visible diverse values people hold in relation to nature, has emerged as a key approach towards better inclusion stakeholders' perspectives. So far, plural valuation mainly focused on positive values, leaving equally important negative underexposed. To address this, concrete proposal been presented also consider ‘disvalues’. However, accessible frameworks help practitioners apply this concept are arguably still lacking. gap, we here propose ‘Integrated Nature Futures Framework’ (I‐NFF), where ‘integrated’ indicates joint consideration values. The I‐NFF draws popular Framework (NFF) develop disvalue thinking more form. considers three (‘nature’, ‘society’ ‘culture’), based which something can be placed spectrum from (‘for nature’, ‘for society’ ‘as culture’) (‘against ‘against ‘in conflict with culture’), represented two mirrored triangles. Using empirical data, illustrate various purposes used: inventory nature‐related topics ‘at play’ given context, depict how frame their overall relationship nature or specific issues. This demonstrates helps reveal value pluralism trade‐offs, capture reciprocity human–nature relationships identify differ share common ground. We close by discussing enhance stakeholder voices conservation, indispensable nature‐ people‐positive future. Read free Plain Language Summary article Journal blog.

As artificial intelligence (AI) becomes more integrated into society, concerns have arisen about unintended biases in AI-driven decision-making and the environmental impact of AI technology development. assistants such as Siri Alexa, while helpful, can obscure contribute to increased energy use CO2 emissions. The present study explores whether consumers prioritize transparency sustainability over performance when choosing with conjoint designs. Japanese participants were presented different assistant profiles, varying quality, transparency, cost, efficiency. results revealed that prioritized assistants, but they sustainability. Moreover, future-oriented placed importance on than those a orientation, an internal locus control valued external control. findings this enhance our understanding how choose options offer valuable guidance for creating systems communication strategies work effectively.

Abstract In many transdisciplinary research settings, a lack of attention to the values underpinning project aims can inhibit stakeholder engagement and ultimately slow or undermine outcomes. As collective (The Careoperative), we have developed set four shared through facilitated visioning process, as central way work together: care, reflexivity, inclusivity, collectivity. this paper, explore implications values-centered approach collaboration in food system transformation research. The paper presents two cases that illustrate how researchers might centering practice. Where much on focuses stakeholders, contribute insights into such endeavors. Specifically, argue working sustainability transformations need be better prepared engage reflections aspire embody aligned with they seek
