Mood inference with mobile sensing data has been studied in ubicomp literature over the last decade. This enables context-aware and personalized user experiences general apps valuable feedback interventions health apps. However, even though model generalization issues have highlighted many studies, focus always on improving accuracies of models using different modalities machine learning techniques, datasets collected homogeneous populations. In contrast, less attention given to studying performance mood assess whether generalize new countries. this study, we a dataset 329K self-reports from 678 participants eight countries (China, Denmark, India, Italy, Mexico, Mongolia, Paraguay, UK) effect geographical diversity models. We define evaluate country-specific (trained tested within country), continent-specific continent), country-agnostic (tested country not seen training data), multi-country multiple countries) approaches trained sensor for two tasks population-level (non-personalized) hybrid (partially personalized) show that partially perform best yielding area under receiver operating characteristic curve (AUROC) scores range 0.78--0.98 two-class (negative vs. positive valence) 0.76--0.94 three-class neutral inference. Background Evidence examining the longitudinal associations between different types of screen behaviours and mental health among adolescents is limited. The present study examined association five symptoms anxiety depression one year later. This also assessed how changes in time were associated with depressive whether observed relationships moderated by sex. Methods Longitudinal data 17,174 students grades 9–12 (53.5% females; mean age: 15.1 ± 0.9 years) attending high schools Canada from two waves (year 6: 2017/18, 7: 2018/19) COMPASS analyzed. Leisure measures self-reported. To test if anxiety, vary sex, two-way interactions for Analyses accounted school clustering, race/ethnicity, age, income, body mass index z -score, previous symptoms. Results There significant spent on each type subsequent strength varied behaviour. Interaction analysis indicated a sex difference television viewing symptoms, internet surfing A dose-response relationship was phone talking Beta estimates that an increase duration further Conclusion Higher longitudinally higher at one-year follow-up adolescents. Time-change usage observed. Also, differed based type, whereby greater increases use predicted emotional distress. Findings this prospective suggest important determinant Future studies are recommended to help inform programs promoting reduction goal enhance adolescents’ health.

Excessive screen time among adolescents is discussed as a significant public health concern. Identifying adolescent longitudinal patterns of spent on regularly-used media screens and understanding their young adulthood mental behavioral issue correlates may help inform strategies for improving these outcomes. This study aimed to characterize joint developmental videogames, surfing/chatting the Internet, TV/DVDs during adolescence (at ages 11, 13, 15, 17) associations with (i.e., depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, self-injury) issues substance use, delinquency, aggression) in early age 20). A parallel-process latent class growth analysis was used model data from diverse community-ascertained sample youth Zurich, Switzerland (n = 1521; 51.7% males). Results suggested that five-class best fitted data: (1) low-screen 37.6%; (2) increasing chatting/surfing, 24.0%; (3) moderate-screen 18.6%; (4) early-adolescence 9.9%; (5) videogame 9.9%. After adjusting baseline levels outcomes (primarily at 11), trajectory groups differed problems, indicating importance problematic usage predicting Future research test directionality will be important. These findings suggest which use marker later different domains.

Smartphone use by adolescents is increasingly attracting the interest of social scientists, parents, and educational stakeholders (teachers, educators, policy makers), generally in a negative context. There are, however, many myths surrounding issue, resulting from reproduction stereotypes about psychosocial functioning cyberspace, as well inadequately constructed research tools that measure how new media are used. This text an attempt to show phenomenon problematic Internet through prism screen time measured using real data smartphones. The was conducted first half 2022 among aged 13–19 Bosnia Herzegovina (N = 1185, mean age 15.47 with standard deviation 1.84). implemented triangulation such Addiction Scale (SAS Scale), Software Installed on (SIS Bergen Social Media (BSMAS), Screen Time (STS). From collected, it noted that: 1) correlates weakly smartphone networking; 2)The average period study group 3 h49 minutes per day, which 37 min related web browsing, while 2 h22 3) A quarter more than 5.5 h h15 media; 4) Approximately respondents smartphones slightly day; 5) Girls for longer boys; 6) Place residence (city or countryside) does not affect time; 7) medium degree type software installed smartphone; 8) need refine measurement methodology abandon self-declaration this area.
