The Dubas bug is a serious and widespread pest of date palms in several countries the Middle East. Chemical pesticides are widely used for managing this pest; however, most fail due to continuous development pesticide resistance. primary goal research was isolate endophytic fungi test their entomopathogenic activity against nymphs adults. A total 27 fungal isolates were obtained identified using nuc rDNA internal transcribed spacer (ITS1-5.8S-ITS2 = ITS) region. These strains represent 16 species, belonging 10 genera seven different families, Ascomycota with six families Basidiomycota single family, Quambalariaceae. The red palm weevil (RPW), Rhynchophorus ferrugineus (Olivier) (Coleoptera: Dryophthoridae), is a destructive and voracious pest of species worldwide. Due to environmental regulatory concerns, ecologically safe alternatives synthetic chemical insecticides are needed manage this cryptic insect species. Entomopathogenic fungi have the potential pest. scope management effectiveness can be improved by direct control or horizontal transmission entomopathogenic fungal isolates. We tested in laboratory virulence pathogenicity fifteen different isolates belonging following species: Beauveria bassiana, Metarhizium anisopliae, brongniartii Purpureocillium lilacinum. All were found virulent against larvae (14.9 ± 1.06 81.5 1.48% mortality) adults (5.6 1.12 51.7 1.51% at 12 d post-treatment. From screening bioassay, five M. anisopliae (WG-08, WG-09) B. bassiana (WG-23, WG-24, WG-25) for their concentration response mortality after 7, 14 21 days (d) treatment. Mortality was positively correlated with time. At treatment, WG-23 WG-25 1 × 108 conidia/mL resulted 100% while only 109 caused adults. Along mortality, all strong ovicidal effects that reduced 81.49% conidia/mL. bioassay indicated infected transmitted disease healthy individuals. Horizontal from non-infected not significant but also had serious sublethal impact on development fitness including number eggs/d fecundity, egg viability neonate survival. Isolate oviposition (0.5 eggs/d), fecundity (11.7 eggs/female), (11.6%) along larval survival 25.9% when male mated normal female. In semi-field trials, inside palms ultimately infestations over period two months. results study indicate should further sustainable efficient RPW date production systems.

Insect-specific pathogens present a sustainable alternative to pesticides for managing the red palm weevil (RPW). This study assessed efficacy of Steinernema carpocapsae ALL nematodes and their symbiotic bacteria against third-instar larvae adults RPW under laboratory conditions. The were isolated, morphologically characterized, genetically identified. results indicated that mortality rates treated with S. exceeded 50% in all treatments at 120 h, reaching 93.33% concentration 250 IJs/mL. morphology isolated bacterium from on NBTA medium exhibited light green color glossy surface, raised center, mucilaginous texture. A novel strain was identified named as LZ-G7. toxicity showed notable rate 66.67% 48 h after feeding 10 × 107 CFU/mL. reached 83.33% 0.30 108 CFU/g 96 injection into blood cavity 8 106 CFU h. These suggest exhibit strong virulence have potential serve effective biological control agents integrated pest management strategies.

Abstract Background India is the world’s leading producer of coconuts, with 2.08 million hectares under cultivation, yielding a total production 22,167 nuts annually. However, various biotic and abiotic constraints limit global palm yields. Among factors, coconut red weevil, Rhynchophorus ferrugineus Olivier (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) (RPW) poses significant challenge in India. This pest attacks crown regions, resulting death palm. Most developmental stages this weevil are concealed within trunk, which not only hinders early detection but also facilitates rapid reproduction. The indiscriminate use chemical insecticides to control these pests has caused environmental regulatory concerns, highlighting need for ecologically safe environmentally friendly alternatives. In context, native entomopathogenic fungus, Beauveria bassiana (Bb-045) (Balsamo) Vuillemin (Hypocreales: Cordycipitaceae), been isolated its efficacy was evaluated against third instar larvae R. . Results Larval susceptibility RPW varied significantly treatment dose exposure period. indigenous isolate, Bb-045, demonstrated high virulence 3 rd larvae, causing up 98% mortality at 14 days after (DAT) highest spore concentration tested (1 × 10 8 conidia/ml). LC 50 value determined be 4.83 4 conidia/ml DAT, while LT calculated as 8.51 1 conidia / ml Furthermore, an invert emulsion formulation Bb-045 through trunk inoculation studies, achieving over 90% 5.2 conidia/ml. exhibited mortality, suggesting potential bio-pesticide management programs. Conclusions Based on virulence, efficacy, strain showed biocontrol agent managing palms, particularly humid tropical ecosystems. present study identified effective field efficacy. Thus, could integrated into programs cultivation efficient biological agent.

Both palm weevils, the South American (Rhynchophorus palmarum) (SAPW) and red weevil (R. ferrugineus, RPW), are present in America, affecting commercial, ornamental, native palms. These pests oviposit thrive on selected Arecaceae. R. palmarum mainly infests coconut (Cocos nucifera), oil palms (Elaeis guineensis), other ornamental causing a significant social impact growers. The weevils fulfill ectosymbiotic macro- microorganism role first period of larval development, worsening damage which, during this period, is not yet apparent. Palm protection Brazilian context suggests use indigenous agents for microbiological biocontrol. This research identifies three Beauveria bassiana isolates: CVAD01, CVAD02, CVAD06. results suggest that strain’s can also be compared with commercial strain bassiana. Phylogenetic analysis allowed delimitation species (Hypocreales). Pathogenicity tests caused mortality palmarum. isolates CVADO6 showed high pathogenicity between 7 21 days, rates 90 100%, suggesting they may effective biological control field when used, within available means, to mitigate ferrugineus America.

Rhynchophorus ferrugineus (Olivier) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae), the red palm weevil (RPW), is a concealed voracious pest of different ornamental and economically important species, particularly date palm. It can cause huge losses in commercial plantations. RPW has spread rapidly from its original distribution Southeast Asia to palm-growing countries worldwide. now established more than 50% 15% coconut-growing globally. To prevent further expansion this pest, many have implemented strict legislative quarantine measures surrounding export palms plant genetic resources RPW-infested countries. This review focuses on general biology (life history, development), host range, geographical distribution, management basis biotechnic methods, farming practices, natural enemies, microbial control agents.

Abstract The Red Palm Weevil (RPW) is a devastating pest to palm trees. Commonly used insecticides for its control, can be harmful the environment and humans. Moreover, some populations of have developed resistance these compounds. Lab semi-field data showed that Entomopathogenic fungi (EPF) non-toxic effective solution reducing infestations. However, efficacy EPF against RPW has not been demonstrated in date palms on field trials with their variables. This study aims examine impact various climate conditions survival Beauveria bassiana ( B. ) prophylactic applications males females Date groves cultivated using different agricultural practices. Healthy from “Arava” region Israel were selected equipped “IoTree” sensors monitor infestation. At beginning each season, experimental group treated emulsions, while control was left untreated. Soil samples gathered at end season both quantify rates test regression treatments efficacy. Results significant effect efficacy, male female groves. Generally, applied autumn higher summer, opposite results observed. Analysis separately, displayed superiority spring grove, grove. Climate index significantly affects treatment effectiveness. soil tests revealed positive association between number fungus Colony-Forming units (CFUs) detected healthy within group. Further research needed investigate timeframes explore diverse application schedules larger evaluate RPW.
