The aim of the research was to study antioxidant activity and protective potential new phenol-containing thioacetyl derivatives D- L-prolines as agents on beluga sperm survival in early stages ontogeny bester (Huso x Acipenser ruthenus) development. indicated that both enantiomers demonstrated equal scavenging towards DPPH•, ABTS•+, O2•–, H2O2 NO, all these radicals, with exception nitric oxide, exceeded BHT. No significant differences were registered between inhibition long-term lipid peroxidation vitro. revealed opposite effect motility duration time spermatozoa, rate their fertilization, at ontogeny. Application L-proline derivative for treatment resulted increase total period movement cells, raise fertility sterlet eggs offspring prelarval stage, which led an number produced larvae. introduction D-proline or BHT decreased sperm, prolarval a decrease obtained

The widespread use of dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) as a cryoprotector for fish spermatozoa, including relict sturgeons, well solvent lipophilic antioxidants introduced into basic DMSO-containing cryoprotective media, increases the risk cryodamage to reproductive cells these species, which have low cryoresistance. work investigated effect different concentrations this (10, 11, 16, 21, 27 and 32%) in medium (3 mmol/l KCl, 111 NaCl, 2 CaCl2, 24 NaHCO3 200 glucose) on parameters beluga sperm motility (percentage motile cell movement time) before after cryopreservation. With an increase concentration DMSO, significant decrease percentage spermatozoa was found equilibration stage 15 min, confirms toxicity sturgeon spermatozoa. Beluga sperm, defrosted freezing low-temperature (–196 °C) storage 3 days, demonstrates only 10.5–2.8% cryopreservation, with exception DMSO 32%, at is already 87.5% freezing. Non-monotonic dependencies duration cryopreservation were established, indicates importance optimizing protocols preserving male sturgeons using media.
