In
the
last
half
of
twentieth
century,
psychology
and
neuroscience
have
experienced
a
renewed
interest
in
intraindividual
variation.
To
date,
there
are
few
quantitative
methods
to
evaluate
whether
population
(between-person)
structure
is
likely
hold
for
individual
people,
often
referred
as
ergodicity.
We
introduce
new
network
information
theoretic
metric,
ergodicity
index
(EII),
that
quantifies
amount
lost
by
representing
all
individuals
with
between-person
structure.
A
Monte
Carlo
simulation
demonstrated
EII
can
effectively
delineate
between
ergodic
nonergodic
systems.
bootstrap
test
derived
statistically
determine
empirical
data
generated
from
an
process.
When
process
identified
nonergodic,
then
it's
possible
mixture
groups
exist.

we
develop
clustering
method
detect
groups.
Finally,
two
examples
presented
using
intensive
longitudinal
personality
domains.
Both
datasets
were
found
be
meaningful
groupings
each
dataset.
Subsequent
analysis
showed
some
these
ergodic,
meaning
represented
single

significant
loss
information.
Notably,
data,
could
correctly
identify
clusters
(young
vs.
older
adults)
measured
pattern
separation
task
related
hippocampal
connectivity
default
mode
network.

Abstract:
The
intention-behavior
gap
(IBG)
is
a
central
challenge
in
health
psychology,
with
significant
implications
for
behavior
change
and
promotion.
Prevailing
approaches
to
IBG
assessment
involve
quantifying
it
as
either
the
proportion
of
unexplained
variance
attributable
intention
or
ratio
unsuccessful
intenders
all
intenders.
While
these
concepts
provide
insight
into
variation
at
between-person
level,
major
part
intentions
behaviors
within-person
level.
This
paper
addresses
limitations
by
introducing
novel
framework,
which
mathematically
conceptualized
multidimensional
difference
between
an
individual’s
behavioral
subsequent
observed
behavior.
