This review article presents recent advancements in membrane filtration technologies, particularly focusing on fouling mechanisms affecting reverse osmosis (RO) membranes. It a comprehensive analysis of various studies conducted over the past two decades, highlighting complexities caused by natural organic matter (NOM), particulate matter, and biofouling. The also examines innovative modelling approaches to predict behaviour, including development Membrane Fouling Index-Ultrafiltration (MFI-UF) method application advanced characterization techniques such as optical coherence tomography (OCT) Near-Edge X-ray Absorption Fine Structure (NEXAFS) spectroscopy. Additionally, it discusses effectiveness pre-treatment strategies, coagulation flocculation mitigating enhancing performance. Finally, integration artificial intelligence (AI) predicting behaviour is highlighted, with emphasis its potential optimize operational parameters systems.

In this research, activated carbon from mangosteen peel has been synthesized using sulfuric acid as an activator.The adsorption performance of the was optimized malachite green dye absorbate.Malachite waste is a toxic and non-biodegradable material that damages environment.Optimization processes carried out Response Surface Methodology (RSM) with Box-Behnken Design (BBD).The characterized FTIR SEM instruments.The spectra confirmed presence sulfonate group (-SO 3 H) in carbon, indicating activation process successful.SEM characterization shows porous morphology.Optimization for three parameters, namely contact time (20, 60, 120 min), adsorbent mass (0.005, 0.025, 0.05 g), initial concentration solution (5, 50, 100 mg•L -1 ).The determined UV-Vis spectrophotometer at maximum wavelength green, 618 nm.The optimum obtained 80 min, 0.032 g, 25 , removal percentage capacity 93.66% 19.345 mg•g respectively.

Remediated water reuse is becoming vital for sustainable management, reducing the strain on freshwater resources, particularly in agriculture and industrial activities. Behind application irrigating crops processes, treated should be employed indirect direct potable use. In latter case, traditional approaches to wastewater treatment have been found inefficient, especially concerning biological contamination, persistent organic pollutants (POPs) and/or contaminants of emerging concern (CECs). Given that, according its origin foreseen use, each needs a specific treatment.
