While some individuals engage in recreational pornography use (PU), others may develop an uncontrolled pattern of termed problematic (PPU). PPU is characterized by persistent, excessive, or compulsive engagement with pornographic content, despite distress and adverse consequences. Impulsivity has been identified as a factor associated PU PPU.

Abstract Background and Aims A fast‐growing body of literature linking emotion dysregulation to substance use has almost exclusively relied on cross‐sectional designs generally failed assess stemming from positive emotions. The current study measured the momentary associations between both negative use, as well moderating role post‐traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Design Micro‐longitudinal data were collected three times per day for 30 days using phone‐based interactive voice recording. Setting Northeastern United States. Participants total 145 community women (M, age = 40.56, 40.3% white) experiencing intimate partner violence (IPV) substances recruited 2018 until 2020. Measurements Momentary surveys assessed alcohol, drug, cigarette use. PTSD diagnosis was derived a structured diagnostic interview. Findings Between‐person relations that remained significant after covariate adjustment correction multiple testing found number drinks (internal rate return [IRR] 1.45; 95% CI 1.07, 1.93; β 0.37) drug (OR 3.78; 1.86, 7.69; 1.33), cigarettes 1.40; 1.82; 0.34). Of six interactions tests, only shown moderate within‐person relation even controlling relevant covariates adjusting 1.26; 1.04, 1.51; 0.23), such with versus without more likely drugs when periods elevated dysregulation. Conclusions Women higher levels relative others may alcohol be drugs. cigarettes. who also have posttraumatic than those do not disorder.

Emotion dysregulation (ED) is a transdiagnostic variable that accounts for the onset and maintenance of mental health disorders. The interplay between ED, cannabis use has not been appraised in young adult population whether there are sex-dependent effects yet to be examined. This study looked at ED mediates association past-month health, while considering sex as moderator.2,762 (64.2% women) undergraduate Spanish students completed an online battery. Among others, they fulfilled Depression Anxiety Stress Scale-21 (DASS-21) Difficulties Regulation Scale (DERS-28). A two-way ANOVA assessed on participants' DASS-21 scores. set moderated mediations tested indirect effect through DERS differed by sex.Past-month female users showed higher levels depression, anxiety stress (M = 51.10, SD 26.72) than did men [(M 33.76, 20.31); F(1, 2758) 5.119, p =.024, η2p =.002]. In adults only, was mediated (total score), non-acceptance emotional responses, lack control, difficulties engaging goal-directed behavior, clarity (all p's < 0.005) CONCLUSIONS: Findings indicate importance assessment intervention practices. Interventions targeting may particularly effective users.

Abstract Adolescents show a high vulnerability for addictive gaming patterns on the one hand and immature emotion regulation (ER) abilities as risk factor mental disorders other hand. We investigated predictive value of ER difficulties problematic (PG) considering age groups (children vs. youths) gender cross-sectionally prospectively in representative sample German adolescents via online survey with two measurement points 14 months apart. General Poisson, logistic, multinomial regression models were estimated to predict by controlling group gender. Results revealed be significantly associated PG. Moreover, subgroup analyses indicated differing children youths boys girls: children, higher PG values emotional awareness clarity whereas it was acceptance responses. differences implicated that had more deficits goal-oriented behavior well while affected girls lacking problems their Interestingly, procrastination significant predictor irrespective subgroups. Furthermore, longitudinal promoted stronger tendencies maintained it. With inclusion procrastination, which can understood maladaptive strategy, broader picture could drawn. The findings support better understanding etiology development targeted prevention intervention measures.

Positive alcohol expectancies are linked to increased use among college students. Difficulties regulating emotion have been shown moderate this relationship, though little research accounts for differences based on the valence of being regulated. To examine independent moderating roles positive and negative dysregulation association between use. College students (N = 165, Mage 20.48, SDage 1.90; 66.1 % Female; 66.7 White; 65.5 non-Hispanic) who reported regular substance (≥ 3 times in past week) completed a one-time survey. Linear regression analyses with moderation were conducted. Correlational suggested that expectancies, dysregulation, positively associated greater indicated difficulties regulation moderated relationship However, did not relationship. concurrently also report consumption, compared those fewer emotion. positive, negative, may serve as risk factor hazardous Findings inform modification existing intervention programs across university counseling centers other health sectors promote development skills individuals endorse difficulties, thereby reducing amid high-risk developmental period.

We studied alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use (ATOD) among adolescents during the COVID-19 pandemic, hypothesizing that social-emotional support from teachers pandemic would lessen adolescent-reported of ATOD in last 30 days. A sample 3,086 high school youth (51% girls; 45% color) seven U.S. communities participated an anonymous online survey between March 2021 July 2021. Data were analyzed using logistic regressions structural equation modeling. Teacher predicted greater perceived risk (OR = 1.36–1.73), less 30-day .65–.84), cultural responsiveness, adolescent competencies, positive coping strategies. Social-emotional was significantly related to students perceiving reporting more competence, which turn contributed School policies practices strengthen student-teacher relationships can help mitigate use.

Objective This paper summarizes methods and initial overdose-related results from the Reducing Overdose Relapse: Concurrent Attention to Neuropsychiatric Ailments Drug Addiction (ROAR CANADA) project. ROAR CANADA is a longitudinal observational study of individuals with severe concurrent substance use mental disorders (also called dual or diagnosis). The sampled patients treated at two tertiary treatment centres in British Columbia, Red Fish Healing Centre Heartwood Centre, along unit St. Joseph's Ontario. These facilities have implemented evidence-based integrated programs. Our first analysis explores selected baseline characteristics as potential risk factors for drug overdose this population. Method Sociodemographic factors, trauma history, impulsivity were part more comprehensive assessment. In investigation, we bivariate logistic linear regression modelling examine these variables relation history. Results Overall, 291 450 participants (64.7%) reported history ≥1 overdose. Across three centres, had lifetime average 7.6 ( SD = 12.9) overdoses. prevalence mean number overdoses somewhat higher among (74.5% 8.5, respectively). Adverse childhood events, all high, but only emerged significantly associated across centres. Impulsivity indicators selectively by site, not consistently within overall sample. Conclusions highlight importance prioritizing trauma-informed care disorders, who are high integration into existing programs may enhance patient outcomes contribute ongoing evolution effective strategies complex findings particularly relevant light crisis.
