The global rise of carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae, including strains producing K. pneumoniae carbapenemase (KPC) types, poses a significant public health challenge due to their resistance critical antibiotics. Treatment options for infections caused by KPC-producing (KPC-KP) are increasingly limited, particularly as these develop last-line antibiotics such ceftazidime/avibactam and colistin. Background Klebsiella pneumoniae is a major cause of hospital-acquired infections (HAIs), primarily spread through environmental contamination in hospitals. The effectiveness current chemical disinfectants waning due to emerging resistance, which poses hazards and fosters new resistance pathogens. Developing environmentally friendly effective against multidrug-resistant organisms increasingly important. Methods This study developed bacteriophage cocktail targeting two common carbapenem-resistant (CRKP) strains, ST11 KL47 KL64. was used as an adjunctive disinfectant hospital’s respiratory intensive care unit (RICU) via ultrasonic nebulization. Digital PCR quantify CRKP levels post-intervention. microbial community composition analyzed 16S rRNA sequencing assess the intervention’s impact on overall diversity. Results phage significantly reduced within first 24 hours post-treatment. Clinical metagenomics (CMg) Nanopore sequencing can facilitate infectious disease diagnosis.
