Streptococcus agalactiae (GBS) is a major pathogen causing mastitis in dairy cows while oxidative stress. Matrine an alkaloid compound extracted from the roots of Sophora flavescens, plant used traditional Chinese medicine. It possesses antioxidant, immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, and pro-apoptotic properties. The aim this study was to investigate regulatory effects matrine on virulence ATCC strain (ATCC13813) clinical GBS strains by transcriptome analysis qRT-PCR validation. results showed that ABC transporter, peptidoglycan biosynthesis, quorum-sensing pathways were significantly altered (4 mg/mL) (12 after treatment at MIC concentrations. Additionally, genes related invasion immune escape, including CylE, CAMP, ScpB, CpsA, expression adhesion factors, such as Bac, Lmb, PI2a, PI2b, downregulated (p < 0.05). Overall, these data suggest effectively inhibits GBS, thereby reducing evasion infection decreasing synthesis capsular polysaccharides host cell adhesion.
