Two helical Schiff base compounds (H4TPA and H4TPE) containing a triphenylamine (TPA) or tetraphenylethylene (TPE) scaffold were successfully synthesized characterized. Both H4TPA H4TPE exhibited typical aggregation-induced emission characteristics in the mixed solvent of THF/H2O. The two also showed high selectivity sensitivity for recognition Cu2+ over other ions THF/HEPES (1:4, V/V, pH = 7.4), could be used as turn-off fluorescent probes Cu2+. stoichiometric ratios, association constants, detection limits, dynamic coordination modes with estimated via Job's plots, UV–vis spectra titration, fluorescence well 1H NMR titration. Besides, crystal structure complex obtained from interaction illustrated binding modes, which helped us understand mechanism H4TPE. Moreover, spiked recovery experiments carried out, indicated that can applied to real samples satisfactory recoveries.

A racemic salicylaldehyde Schiff base (L) containing a pyridine-2,6-dicarboxamide scaffold was successfully synthesized and characterized. L exhibited typical aggregation-induced emission (AIE) characteristic in the mixed solvent of THF/H2O. The UV-Vis absorption spectra fluorescence showed high selectivity sensitivity for recognition Cu2+ over other ions solution THF/H2O (2:3, V/V), indicated can be used as turn-off fluorescent probe Cu2+. stoichiometric ratio, association constant, detection limit toward were estimated using Job's plot method, titration, titration. More importantly, Cu(II) complex from coordination interaction with characterized by X-ray crystal diffraction technique. structure well illustrated binding mode Cu2+, contributing to further understanding mechanism.
