Photocatalysis plays a vital role in addressing environmental remediation and energy generation. Carbon quantum dots (CQDs) represent superior category of photocatalysts devoid metals, boasting remarkable electron transfer capabilities, up-conversion photoluminescence, non-toxic properties. Notably, CQDs can function independently as or become part composite photocatalytic materials. This article explores the precursor materials used CQD production various methods for preparing enhanced with CQDs, such hydrothermal, solvothermal, microwave, chemical oxidation, etc. Furthermore, we provide an extensive overview recent advancements pristine, doped, CQD-based photocatalysts, encompassing applications like organic pollutant degradation water, hydrogen production, CO2 photoreduction fuel The effect surface computational modelling was also addressed. Finally, addressed challenges potential research avenues CQD-enhanced photocatalysts.

Due to the high stability, hypotoxicity and tunable optical properties, room temperature phosphorescence (RTP) carbon dots (CDs) have a great range of application in anti-counterfeiting encryption, bioimaging optoelectronic devices, etc. Nevertheless, synthesis procedures for RTP CDs are always pricey, burdensome involve toxic chemicals. Herein, facile method produce materials by heat treatment creatine boric acid (BA) at 350 ºC is reported. TEM, XRD, FT-IR XPS carried out structural characterizations showed that B-C covalent bond embedded rigid B2O3 matrix stabilize triplet excitons limit nonradiative transition. The yellow green CDs/BA displayed an ultralong lifetime 1.286 s last more than 5 naked eye. What's more, prepared successfully applied information encryption. This work provides new insights design metal-free with persistent luminescence promising remarkable applications.
