Despite the recognized importance of green total factor productivity (GTFP) in literature, there remains a scarcity studies examining impact foreign direct investment (FDI) on GTFP at level service enterprises, particularly regarding role DT this relationship. To address gap, we utilize data from listed enterprises China to examine FDI enterprise and digital transformation (DT) link. The results indicate that enhanced significantly decreases GTFP. Moreover, negative is primarily attributable decline technological innovation. Additionally, alleviates detrimental effect services Furthermore, moderated mediation tests reveal exerts moderate mediating latter segment pathway linking These insights offer valuable guidance harnessing for higher GTFP, informing practical policy recommendations.

Introduction New urbanization is a powerful support for regional economic growth and green transformation. Methods In this paper, we select data from 237 cities at prefecture level above in China 2010 to 2021 quasi-experimental design, investigate the effects of new policy pilots on urban total factor productivity ( GTFP ) its mechanism by constructing multi-period difference-in-differences model. Results The study finds that: a) construction has positive impact promoting GTFP, result verified series robustness tests; b) promotion industrial structure upgrading, facilitation technological innovation, reduction degree resource mismatch all partially mediate relationship between GTFP; c) environmental regulation market integration both modulate directions; d) heterogeneity analysis shows that, terms two-dimensional city attributes ‘location-characteristics’, increase more significant eastern central cities, non-resource cities; e) further that pilot policies have spatial spillover effect are mainly affected through mechanisms such as upgrading neighboring municipalities. Discussion This provides ideas next stage sustainable development China, thus China's high-quality with theoretical practical significance.

Green fiscal policy draws worldwide attention from policymakers as a potential mechanism that contributes to sustainable development. However, although many studies have discussed the economic consequences of green policy, there is still lack systematically quantify productivity impacts policy. Therefore, fill this gap, China’s Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction Fiscal Policy Pilot (ECER) difference-in-differences (DID) identification method were chosen explore impact on total factor (GTFP). We find ECER significantly enhances urban GTFP, it holds after series robustness tests. Moreover, we mediating mechanisms may explain effect: government environmental regulation, technology innovation, industrial structure optimization. Further analysis shows positive effect more significant when (1) transparency high; (2) financial autonomy (3) digital transformation (4) city’s resource endowment (5) development level high. Overall, our study provides new insights into
