Healthy individuals exhibit blood pressure variation over a 24-hour period with higher during wakefulness and lower sleep. Loss or disruption of the circadian rhythm has been linked to adverse health outcomes, for example, cardiovascular disease, dementia, chronic kidney disease. However, current diagnostic therapeutic approaches lack sufficient attention rhythmicity pressure. Abstract Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is characterized by co-occurrence with affective disorders. Our study aims to investigate the association of circadian clock gene expressions, and presence severity depressive symptoms in OSA patients. The included 184 individuals, who underwent polysomnography (PSG) had their peripheral blood collected evening before morning after PSG. Patients were divided into two groups: (apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) > 5) control group (AHI < 5). RNA was extracted from leukocytes. Expression levels selected genes ( BMAL1 , CLOCK PER1 CRY1 NPAS2 NR1D1 ) assessed qRT-PCR. Questionnaire data (including Insomnia Severity Index (ISI), Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS), Chronotype (CQ), Montgomery–Åsberg Depression Rating (MADRS)). expression all examined patients upregulated compared (except ). No differences observed between groups at either time point. Additionally, there a positive correlation (assessed MADRS) Finally, multivariable linear regression, ISI score B = 0.750, p 0.001), AM CQ 0.416, 0.007), 4.310, 0.042) found be predictive factors for greater depression Dysregulated linked symptom severity, suggesting disruption may underlie OSA.

Intermittent hypoxia (IH) is a major clinical feature of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). The mechanisms that become dysregulated after periods exposure to IH are unclear, particularly in the early stages disease. circadian clock governs wide array biological functions and intimately associated with stabilization hypoxia-inducible factors (HIFs) under hypoxic conditions. In patients, occurs during phase 24-hour sleep-wake cycle, potentially affecting their rhythms. Also, resulted overall increase core body temperature. Our findings demonstrate relationship between specific physiological outcomes. This study provides insight into pathophysiological

Summary Obstructive sleep apnea is the most common sleep‐related breathing disorder worldwide and remains underdiagnosed. Its multiple associated comorbidities contribute to a decreased quality of life work performance as well an increased risk death. Standard treatment seems have limited effects on cardiovascular metabolic aspects disease, emphasising need for early diagnosis additional therapeutic approaches. Recent evidence suggests that dysregulation circadian rhythms, processes with endogenous rhythmicity are adjusted environment through various cues, involved in pathogenesis comorbidities. Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a complex process that can lead to the dysregulation of molecular clock, as well 24 h rhythms and wake, blood pressure, other associated biological processes. Previous work has demonstrated crosstalk between circadian clock hypoxia-responsive pathways. However, even in absence OSA, disrupted clocks exacerbate OSA-associated outcomes (e.g., cardiovascular or cognitive outcomes). As we expand our understanding biology setting this information could play significant role diagnosis treatment OSA. Here, summarize pre-existing knowledge patients with OSA examine utility biomarkers alternative clinical tools.

Objectives: Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is an independent risk factor for metabolic syndrome (MetS). Recent studies have indicated that circadian clock genes were dysregulated in OSA. In addition, it clear the impairment of clocks drives progression MetS. Therefore, we hypothesized rhythm disruption links OSA with Methods: A total 118 participants, who underwent polysomnography (PSG) and diagnosed as healthy snorers (control, n = 29) or (n 89) patients based on apnea-hypopnea index (AHI), enrolled present study. General information, anthropometric data, blood biochemical indicators, gene expressions, levels oxidative inflammatory indicators collected, determined, compared all participants. Results: We found Brain muscle aryl hydrocarbon receptor nuclear translocator-like protein 1 (Bmal1) Differentiated embryo chondrocyte (Dec1) upregulated, while Period (Per1) was reduced patients. these changing trends closely associated hypoxia indicator AHI a significant impact presence MetS components, such hyperglycemia (Dec1 Per1, p < 0.05 0.001, respectively), hypertension (Bmal1 Dec1, 0.001 0.01, hyperlipidemia (Dec1, 0.01), obesity 0.05). Notably, expressions Dec1 correlated IR predicted Finally, also observed expression interrelated both biomarkers (IL-6) Conclusion: This study concluded disruptions, especially link inflammatory-related manner. Abstract Purpose Melatonin aids in the synchronization of circadian rhythm to external environment. Few studies have tried elucidate relationship between melatonin and obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS). These often include few patients, do not differentiate OSAS severity and/or analyse a 24-h profile. This study set out investigate disease dependent differences salivary secretion patients compared reference population retrospective design. Methods profiles 169 were analysed (55 light, 66 moderate, 48 severe) as well 91 patients. Several aspects curve stratified according severity. Parameters included: dim light onset (DLMO), time returning below DLMO (DLMOoff), peak concentration time, total exposure. Results Significant effects corrected for confounding by age sex using linear regression. Our analysis shows that, manner, significantly lower curve, concentration, exposure smaller proportion reach DLMO. The production resistant sex. Conclusion describes clear abnormalities independent age. Future research should indicate whether oral supplementation has beneficial with attenuated endogenous production.
