C-type lectins (CTLs) are a family of carbohydrate-binding proteins and an important component mosquito saliva. Although CTLs play key roles in immune activation viral pathogenesis, little is known about their role regulating dengue virus (DENV) infection transmission. In this study, we established homozygous

Dengue fever virus (DENV) is a mosquito-borne mostly spread by Aedes aegypti. According to the World Health Organization, DENV found primarily in urban and semiurban areas tropical subtropical climates globally, putting approximately half of world's population at risk, where about 100–400 million cases disease occur annually. In 2023 alone, there were over five dengue reported more than 80 countries territories worldwide. This due an ongoing outbreak potentiated unanticipated spike cases. It crucial understand transmission patterns manage public health effectively. Here, we provide overview recent global propose integrated/coordinated system (One Health) as recommendation for effective prevention control measure.

Background and Objective: Dengue fever, a significant tropical disease, often presents with liver dysfunction. This study evaluated the association between elevated function tests (AST, ALT, bilirubin) clinical outcomes mortality, to identify prognostic indicators. Material & Methods: cross-sectional was conducted in department of Medicine, Nishtar Hospital, Multan, over 15-month period from July 2024 September 2024. Patients confirmed dengue fever were enrolled using non-probability consecutive sampling technique. Statistical analysis performed SPSS version 26.0. Results: A total 146 patients included, mean age 48 ± 17 years; most common group 31 45 years (32%). Males constituted 78 (53%) sample. (DF) identified 85 (58%), hemorrhagic (DHF) 37 (25%) shock syndrome (DSS) 24 (16%). AST ALT levels significantly DSS (670.4 701.5 U/L 700.8 750.3 U/L) compared DHF (550.7 660.3 560.4 720.8 DF (482.8 645.6 496.1 683.1 (p < 0.001). Mortality 38% 11% (p<0.001). AST, bilirubin higher non-survivors Severe dysfunction (AST + > 300 associated increased mortality. Conclusion: highlights strong LFTs severe outcomes, underscoring their value assessing severity guiding interventions.

Abstract Background Dengue virus serotype 2 (DENV-2) was the major in 2015 dengue outbreak Taiwan, while DENV-1 and DENV-3 were dominant between 2005 2014. ABSTRACT Dengue fever, an infectious disease prevalent in subtropical and tropical regions, currently lacks effective small-molecule drugs as treatment. In this study, we used a fluorescence peptide cleavage assay to screen seven compounds assess their inhibition of the dengue virus (DENV) NS2B-NS3 protease. DV-B-120 demonstrated superior protease activity lower toxicity compared ARDP0006. The selectivity index was higher than that vivo assessments antiviral efficacy against DENV replication delayed mortality suckling mice treated with compound, 60–80% protection life-threatening effects, outcomes DENV-infected saline. clinical scores indicated reduction acute–progressive illness symptoms, underscoring potential therapeutic impact DV-B-120. Investigations DV-B-120's ability restore type I IFN response brain tissue ICR its capacity stimulate IFN-stimulated gene expression. not only significantly DENV-2-induced symptoms but also reduced viral numbers brain, ultimately restoring innate response. These findings strongly suggest holds promise agent infection highlight contribution addressing current lack treatments for disease. IMPORTANCE prevalence regions is escalating due factors like climate change mosquito vector expansion. With over 300 million annual infections potentially fatal outcomes, urgent need evident. While approved Dengvaxia vaccine has variable efficacy, there are no DENV. This study explores targeting protease, crucial protein replication. exhibit inhibitory effects on DENV-2 NS2B-NS3, holding disrupting preventing severe manifestations. Extensive research has been conducted on the SARS-CoV-2 virus in association with various infectious diseases to understand pathophysiology of infection and potential co-infections. In tropical countries, exposure local viruses may alter course coinfection. Notably, only a portion antibodies produced against proteins demonstrate neutralizing properties, immune response following natural tends be temporary. contrast, long-lasting IgG are common after dengue infections. cases where preexisting from an initial bind different serotype during subsequent infection, there is for antibody-dependent enhancement (ADE) formation complexes associated disease severity. Both infections can result immunodeficiency. Viral both interfere host's IFN-I signaling. Additionally, cytokine storm occur viral impairing proper response, autoantibodies wide array appear convalescence. Most reported typically short-lived. Vaccines affecting enhancing clearance. A comprehensive analysis pathogenicity revisited prevent severity, mortality.
