Abstract Trace metals (Li, B, Na, Mg, Al, K, Ca, Ti, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Ga, Se, Sr, Ag, Cd, In, Ba, Hg, Pb, Bi) in surface sediments of the Nile Delta coastal area between Western Harbor and Bardaweel Lagoon were evaluated. The ecological risk assessment was evaluated by Contamination degree ( C d ), Geoaccumulation Factor I geo Enrichment EF CF Hazard Quotient (HQ) Pollution Load Index PLI ). values are sequence: Cr > Pb Ni Zn Cu Mn. studied locations unpolluted with (I ≤0) (> 1.5). Significant correlations reported concentrations Co suggesting similar sources. HQ indicate low for children 3–4 adult values. Using principal component analysis (PCA), sources heavy categorized.

ABSTRACT Safe water quality is essential for human consumption. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate and health risks, including the hazard quotient (HQ) index (HI). Samples were collected from six sites (S1–S6) of groundwater resources, aqueducts (Ganats), cisterns, distribution network Gonabad city in autumn 2023. Data (WQI) show that distribution, cisterns (site 2 site 3), Ganats 1), cistern 1) have good (WQI < 50), poor 50–75), very > 75) drinking purposes, respectively. The results risk models indicate HQ value exceeds World Health Organization recommendations children at S5. Moreover, total (THI) levels ranged 0.19 0.937 adults 0.51 2.45 children. Notably, outcomes indicated more susceptible non-carcinogenic hazards than (THI 1). In conclusion, it recommended immediate action be taken address resources protect public health, with a particular focus on implementing measures reduce exposure
