Lakes are essential ecosystems that play a significant role in water quality and biodiversity, particularly nutrient cycling. Nitrogen compounds, including ammonium (NH4+), nitrate (NO3−), nitrite (NO2−), critical elements lake ecosystems, influencing productivity quality. This study aimed to investigate nitrogen compounds Qinghai Lake, assess soil indicators, evaluate the relationship between (N) phosphorus (P) levels soil. Water samples from 17 locations around nine sites at two depths were analyzed for various parameters. Statistical regression analyses performed explore correlations N forms other parameters total P, N, pH soil, as well their interactions with environmental variables. The mean concentrations of NO3−-N, NH4+-N, NO2−-N 0.0189 mg/L, 0.112 0.595 mg/L respectively. models revealed P along factors, crucial roles regulating levels. Abstract The Bailin River, a key tributary of the Yangtze faces significant water quality challenges due to agricultural non-point source (NPS) pollution exacerbated by industrial discharge and urban runoff. This study employs Soil Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) analyze temporal spatial dynamics runoff as well total nitrogen (TN) phosphorus (TP) loads in River basin from 2020 2023. A critical area analysis was performed identify regions disproportionately contributing pollutant loads. Through various simulations, including different Best Management Practices (BMPs) scenarios, explores their effectiveness reducing nutrient findings reveal that losses are significantly concentrated during flood season, with TN TP accounting for 58.61% 58.92% annual totals, respectively. Specific BMP combining optimized fertilization, vegetation buffer strips, grass ditches, demonstrated substantial reduction, best combinations exceeding 58% reductions both TP. emphasizes necessity targeted interventions areas optimize management strategies achieve better outcomes. Continuous monitoring adaptive practices will be crucial addressing ongoing this basin. Ultimately, research contributes deeper understanding NPS mountainous watersheds highlights effective pathways improved ecological health quality.

ABSTRACT Urbanization, driven by population growth, alters watershed hydrology and nutrient runoff. However, the complex interplay between urbanization nutrients in regional watersheds remains an open question. This study assessed how affects streamflow, total nitrogen (TN), phosphorus (TP) loads six diverse Florida covering area of 10,600 km 2 . was carried out introducing 2070 land use/land cover (LULC) projections to a hydrology/water quality model. We investigated different levels urban density, as proxy for patterns, affect streamflow variability. Results indicate that could increase from 14% 27% 2070. expansion lead monthly increases 0%–36%, based on patterns. Future TP change −8% +140%, with decreases attributed LULC transitions high‐use fertilizer agriculture low/medium density residential classes. Projected TN are more consistent, simulated changes −1% +26%. Among transitions, largest caused potential freshwater wetlands. provides knowledge relevant regions undergoing similar trends, enabling managers make better development plans water considerations.
