This study considers China’s ongoing Urban Old Residential Community Renovation Pilot Policy (UORCRPP), one of the important policies for urban renewal (UR), as a quasi-natural experiment, and uses sample 283 panel data from Chinese cities to examine impact influential mechanisms UR on carbon emissions (UCE) by applying difference-in-differences (DID) model. Our findings reveal that significantly reduces UCE, conclusion supported series robustness analyses. achieves this reduction in UCE through four transmission mechanisms: infrastructure development, growth productive service sector, resource allocation, economic agglomeration. Furthermore, exerts more pronounced inhibitory effect small-scale cities, central western regions, those not reliant resource-intensive industries. Additionally, demonstrates stronger designated low-carbon pilot non-participants new urbanization programs, involved innovation-focused initiatives. also exhibits significant negative spatial spillover surrounding with taking “U”-shaped pattern distance thresholds increase. The maximum is observed at 200 kilometers.

Spatial planning, a policy instrument for creating sustainable environments that meet the needs of current and future generations, has been implemented extensively worldwide. However, it is difficult urban planners to thoroughly determine spatial value territory make informed decisions regarding efficient utilization regional resources in real world. This study proposes novel methodological framework pattern optimization can guide land use by integrating Minimum Spanning Tree (MST) clustering with comprehensive evaluation system (dual evaluation). Furthermore, validity this demonstrated through case territorial planning Deyang, China. The findings indicate (1) presented offers valuable guidance arrangement resources, especially practical projects; (2) combination dual MST facilitate automatic regionalization identify clusters exhibiting functional similarity terms use. By focusing on advancements, concludes integration (DE) not only simplifies identification optimal land-use patterns but also promotes more systematic approach support planning.

Ensuring equitable access to green spaces in urban built-up areas is not only vital for fostering environmental justice but also aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). However, there a noticeable gap current body of research regarding role small spaces, especially their multifunctionality from an ecosystem services perspective. Taking area Harbin as example, this study first applied Analytic Hierarchy Process classify supply and demand space into three types. Then, article further analyzes potential functional positioning newly added including ecological social functions, using Minimum Cumulative Resistance Point Interest. Finally, multi-criteria decision models are used explore priority construct multi-functional highly-efficient network. The results indicate significant imbalance demand, severe medium mismatch accounting 30.17 % 48.50 %, respectively. By assessing we propose guidelines that include five types areas: Concentrated (85.85 km2, 16.94 %), Backup (70.74 14.31 Maintenance (304.49 61.51 Protection (14.94 3.02 Optimization (20.89 4.22 %). proposes 277.60 km multifunctional examining crafts pivotal framework enhancing equity environments, providing valuable insights policymakers planners. approach has implications developing networks varied contexts offers model wider application, serving reference achieving countries globally.

Urban blue–green space is essential to the normal functioning of urban landscape ecosystem, and it also a significant metric for assessing quality human settlements. In China’s territorial planning, overall planning strategy’s implementation depends on constructing network in urbanized construction area. This paper used 85 typical riverside parks Beijing’s as research object, collecting analyzing multiple social media user data. It explored main factors that influenced people’s satisfaction with design sensory perception waterfront green from perspectives beside different river systems, types, districts. The distinction between evaluation was further discussed through variance analysis. revealed following findings: (1) by comparing total number park reviews seasons, could be observed tourists evidently preferred spring landscape, winter needs improved. (2) By review stars parks, appreciated functions, excellent recreation facilities, complete management services close city center. Functions became important influencing evaluation. (3) There room improvement water ecology landscapes adjacent various people paid more attention level service facilities. (4) According categories demand activity organization, cultural displays other aspects different. (5) Among districts, distinctive animal plant recreational activities districts outskirts city. conclusions, suggestions were made optimizing improving space, providing managers technical support basis decision-making.

In the context of urban renewal, residents have presented elevated expectations for quality parks, necessitating optimization parks’ multifunctional landscapes. Transforming residents’ preferences landscape services into a prioritized index renewal poses significant challenge. This study addresses this research gap by integrating importance–performance analysis (IPA) with perception evaluations services. We establish an system to evaluate perceptions park By employing framework, we identify service types that exhibit high importance but low satisfaction levels, thereby establishing priorities renewal. Using Guangzhou’s parks as case study, our findings reveal variations in users’ demands different and differences demand among various user groups similar Users assign utmost safety while expressing highest physical mental health or microclimate regulation Significant disparities exist between middle-aged/elderly young people regarding social interaction, waste disposal, sense belonging Our results demonstrate IPA can elucidate facilitate public participation improving landscapes, provide decision-making support optimizing these
