A scientific understanding of the trends water-related ecosystem services (WESs) under different scenarios is crucial to improving WESs and maintaining ecological security. However, there a lack high-resolution land use simulation assessment SSP-RCP scenarios, impacts land-use change (LUC) on are not clear. This study focused Poyang Lake Basin (PYLB), utilizing PLUS model InVEST explore dynamic changes historically in future, reveal specific LUC from 2000 2020. The results demonstrated that: (1) forest increased both SSP1-2.6 SSP2-4.5 but first then decreased SSP5-8.5 scenarios; Cropland significantly construction showed an expansion trend three scenarios. (2) From 2020, only water purification capacity decreased, while rest increased. Under scenario, overall benefits PYLB were highest. (3) Between deforestation brought about greatest increase yield (+9.06 × 108 m3). most conservation loss (−18.19 Additionally, cropland reduction largest soil retention (+3.94 105 t +4.79 t) enhanced purification, opposite was true for deforestation. conclusions can provide important basis protection high-quality development PYLB.

Regional Carbon Storage Dynamics Driven by Tea Plantation Expansion: Insights from Meitan County, China DOI Creative Commons

Over the past two decades, tea plantation area in Meitan County, China, has expanded nearly 30-fold, driving significant land use and cover changes (LUCC) with unclear impacts on regional carbon storage. This study uses PLUS-InVEST model to analyze LUCC storage from 2000 2020 predict future by 2060. Results show a decline total 3977.83 × 104 t 3960.85 2020, primarily due reductions cultivated grassland. Although forest plantations increased, overall trend remained negative. Multi-scenario simulations indicate that sustainable development scenario (SDS) mitigates loss, decrease of 31.53 t, compared larger natural (NDS) economic (EDS) scenarios. Under SDS scenario, grassland increased while construction expansion was controlled. emphasizes optimizing agricultural management enhance sequestration protect ecosystems, highlighting need for balance between ecological protection County.

Massive land use changes in Indonesia driven by deforestation, agricultural expansion, and urbanization have significantly increased landslide susceptibility upper watersheds. This study focuses on the Sumber Brantas Kali Konto sub-watersheds where rapid conversion has destabilized slopes disrupted ecological balance. By integrating remote sensing, Cellular Automata-Markov (CA-Markov), Random Forest (RF) models, research aims to identify optimal scenarios for mitigating hazards. Three were analyzed: business as usual (BAU), capability classification (LCC), regional spatial planning (RSP) using 400 field-validated data points alongside 22 topographic, geological, environmental, anthropogenic parameters. Land analysis from 2017 2022 revealed a 1% decline natural forest cover, which corresponded increase high very hazard areas. From 2022, risk “High” category rose 33.95% 37.59% “Very High” 10.24% 12.18%; under BAU 2025, they reached 40.89% 12.48%, while RSP LCC reduced 44.12% 34.44%, respectively. These findings highlight critical role of geospatial machine learning promote sustainable use, reduce hazards, enhance watershed resilience with model accuracy (>81%).

Understanding how land cover and ecosystem services respond to diverse policies is essential for economic development ecological conservation. However, few efforts have been made analyze the in conjunction with Poyang Lake Ecological Economic Zone (PYLEEZ), limiting sustainable improvement of region. Therefore, this study quantified changes four services, evaluated relationships between them, analyzed various affected PYLEEZ from 2000 2020. The results showed that artificial surfaces expanded at expense cultivated land. Agricultural encroachment resulted loss most woodland wetland. Under policies, 2062.19 km2 returned natural land, leading a net wetland area increase 760.8 km2. In terms crop production increased significantly (+151 %) carbon storage reduced slightly (-2.7 under influence agricultural rapid urbanization. Furthermore, habitat quality water yield by 252.75 61.3 × 108 m3, respectively. Carbon presented clear trade-off relationship production, while was synergistic production. Given current PYLEEZ, it worthwhile focus on safety minimize driven policies. This expected help achieve balanced social economy conservation PYLEEZ.

This study examines the complex relationship between climate change and ecosys-tem services (ESs) in France. We explore both direct effects of indirect land-use on six regulating ESs (e.g., habitat quality, water retention) two provisioning crop production, livestock produc-tion). Results indicate that while may initially have positive impacts ESs, induced negative adaptation often overshadow these benefits. show effectiveness a greenhouse gas (GHG) tax 200e/tCO2eq agriculture offsetting to ESs. highlights importance integrating economic instru-ments, such as carbon pricing mechanisms, promote sustainable management context change.
