The mismatch between urban livability and population distribution can result in overcrowding excessive pressure on ecosystem services if growth surpasses capacity. Conversely, expansion outpaces needs, it lead to underutilized infrastructure inefficient land use. This study aims assess the coordination five major agglomerations China: Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei (BTH), Yangtze River Delta (YRD), Pearl (PRD), Mid-Yangtze (MYR), Chengdu–Chongqing (CC). A comprehensive index for is established, from aspects of social–economic development service. Additionally, a Coordination Distance Index (CDI) developed measure relationship distribution. Data 2010, 2015, 2020 are analyzed evaluate levels trends across agglomerations. results show that 2010 2020, most cities within these experience improvements their levels, with notable advancements PRD YRD regions. By were classified as having “high coordination”, while BTH, MYR, CC categorized “moderate coordination”. However, certain cities, such Chengde Shanghai YRD, Ya’an CC, Zhuhai PRD, still exhibited “low highlighting areas requiring spatial planning adjustments. introduces method quantitatively assessing distribution, providing essential insights policymakers planners refine urbanization strategies regulation policies China’s

The ecological and social problems brought about by China’s rapid urbanization process threaten sustainable development. Taking the cities with high coarse sediment yield in middle reaches of Yellow River as research objects, this study constructed a complex analytical framework composed urbanization, ecosystem service value (ESV), human well-being (HBW) subsystems. equivalent factor method (EFM) was used to evaluate ESV. entropy weight (EWM) comprehensive nighttime light index (CNLI) were adopted assess level well-being. Then, coupled coordination degree (CCD) grey relational modes developed reveal major obstacles synergistic results showed that, from 2000 2020, ESV, HWB increased. average CCD grew 0.34 0.56, higher levels northeast south. coordinated development is influenced multiple factors, intensity driving factors decreasing order industrial structure, population quality, economic drive, government regulation, scientific technological support. indicate that it essential formulate differentiated regionally strategies establish cross-regional cooperation mechanisms achieve interactive urban development, protection, improvements River.

As global climate change intensifies, its impact on the ecological environment is becoming increasingly pronounced. Among these, land surface temperature (LST) and vegetation cover status, as key indicators, have garnered widespread attention. This study analyzes spatiotemporal dynamics of LST Kernel Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (KNDVI) in 11 provinces along Yangtze River their response to based MODIS Terra satellite data from 2000 2020. The linear regression showed a significant KNDVI increase 0.003/year (p < 0.05) rise 0.065 °C/year 0.01). Principal Component Analysis (PCA) explained 74.5% variance, highlighting dominant influence urbanization. K-means clustering identified three regional patterns, with Shanghai forming distinct group due low variability. Generalized Additive Model (GAM) analysis revealed nonlinear LST–KNDVI relationship, most evident Hunan, where cooling effects weakened beyond threshold 0.25. Despite 0.07 increase, high-temperature areas Chongqing Jiangsu expanded by over 2500 km2, indicating limited mitigation. reveals complex interaction between KNDVI, which may provide scientific basis for development management adaptation strategies.

Rapid urbanization inevitably exerts pressure on the surrounding ecological environment, and balancing relationship between environment is crucial for sustainable urban development. Taking Yangtze River Delta agglomeration (YRDUA) as a case study, this paper utilizes MODIS data nighttime light to construct Remote Sensing Ecological Index (MRSEI) Comprehensive Nighttime Light (CNLI) distributions depict quality levels. Based this, Coupled Coordination Degree (CCD) model employed calculate coupling coordination level two, Geodetector used analyze underlying causes affecting CCD. The results indicate following: (1) overall of YRDUA tends be stable, but there are significant differences regions. Areas with deteriorating conditions concentrated in cities higher rates changes. (2) All developing towards coordination, imbalances development among different (3) key factors CCD derived from socioeconomic elements rather than natural elements, interaction GDP DEM having strongest explanatory power (4) CNLI positively correlated CCD, MRSEI negatively decisive factor research findings can provide theoretical guidance promoting

The coupled development of new-type urbanization (NTU) and rural revitalization (RR) represents a critical proposition put forth by China for forging novel paradigm urban-rural relationship. Initially, this study employs the entropy method to quantify NTU RR. Subsequently, it carries out comprehensive analysis concerning their relationship with relative degree model (RDDM), coordination (CCDM), Dagum Gini coefficient, kernel density estimation, Tobit model. findings drawn from indicate 2011 2022, RR in Yangtze River Economic Belt (YREB) have exhibited consistent upward trajectory, but lagging disorders are widely distributed numerous. (CCD) constantly improves, transitioning moderate imbalance primary coordination, exhibiting spatial distribution "high east low west". disparity between demonstrates slowly narrowing trend, whereas absolute indicates an expanding trend. Among influencing factors, agricultural industry exerts most significant positive impact on development, level financial support agriculture dampening effect, which is heterogeneous nature.

Introduction As the process of urbanization accelerates, high energy consumption, pollution, and low land use efficiency have led to many significant negative impacts on production daily life. Methods In order investigate impact construction green its potential mechanisms, indicators China’s evaluation system are constructed, SBM-GML model is used measure efficiency. Based this, data from 30 provinces in China 2013 2023 test them using fixed effects, mediating effects threshold effects. Results (1) The can directly contribute improvement use. This conclusion remains valid after conducting endogeneity robustness tests. (2) effect shows that increase synergistic industrial agglomeration promote optimization structure, thus indirectly promoting (3) a exists relationship between level economic development efficiency, based process. deepens, role improving gradually strengthens. (4) Heterogeneity analysis reveals has more driving cities eastern China. Discussion paper suggests optimizing allocation resources accelerating terms green. Attention should be given regional differences carbon emissions during urbanization, it essential continuously optimize realized low-carbon model. Special attention paid enhancing emission control underdeveloped regions, nationwide
