Urbanization and its impact on land use cover change are key drivers of global carbon balance shifts. Understanding the spatiotemporal evolution in relation to urbanization helps optimize regional planning sustainable development. This study develops a city-level system quantify dynamics across 130 cities Yangtze River Economic Belt (YREB). Moran’s Index is applied assess spatial correlation balance, Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) used explore relationship between levels net emissions. The results show following: (1) From 2005 2021, absorption YREB remained relatively stable, whereas emissions increased. Net increased by 574.61, 456.16, 1163.60 Mt C upper, middle, lower reaches, respectively. Nearly 98% exhibited index greater than 1, indicating deficit. Carbon emission intensity displayed decreasing trend, with most significant reductions observed middle reaches. (2) Land exhibits positive correlation, northeastern reaches southwestern upper forming “high–high” “low–low” clusters. (3) per capita followed an inverted “N”-shaped curve, turning points at around 30% 85% urbanization. provides insights into optimizing management amidst urban growth YREB.

Carbon sink service (CSS) is crucial in addressing global warming and provides theoretical support for research on human‒system coupling. CSS generation, flow, utilization the composite ecosystem of mountains, rivers, forests, farmlands, lakes, grasslands (CEMRFFLG) sustainable development. Quantifying coupled supply‒flow‒demand processes mechanisms CEMRFFLG remains a pressing issue study carbon flows (CSSFs). First, quantify supply demand situation Chongqing. Second, coupling process CSSF among water, forest, farmland, grassland subsystems explored via breakpoint model combined with metacoupling framework. Finally, multiscenario simulation was performed to reveal its flow mechanism. The results show that: (1) Net primary productivity (NPP) mainly comes from emissions (CEs) come farmland. (2) During telecoupling, forest subsystem has highest total value outflow inflow plots, accounting 35.51% 61.24% total, respectively. (3) moves areas human activities. This paper proposes optimization suggestions essential achieving complex ecosystem's

Ecological carbon sinks, pivotal in mitigating emissions, are indispensable for climate change mitigation. Counties, as the fundamental units of ecological space management, directly impact achievement regional dual targets through their levels sink. However, existing research has overlooked intricate relationship between terrain features and spaces, leading to a lack specific guidance on enhancing sink counties with diverse landform characteristics. This study focused Jingbian County (Loess Plateau), Fuping (Guanzhong Plain), Chenggu (Qinba Mountains), each characterized by distinct proposes comprehensive identification model within context targets. Utilizing this basis, land use structure, potential, spatial patterns different were systematically analyzed. The results indicated substantial disparities capabilities, distributions among types. Specifically, was predominantly covered grassland, exhibiting moderate overall capacity, baseline spaces playing significant role. Conversely, County, dominated cultivated construction land, exhibited lowest non-ecological accounting staggering 85.93%. other hand, dominance forestland, nearly all its originating from core occupying position. Tailored optimization strategies recommended based varying features: should prioritize ecosystem restoration conservation, while concentrate optimizing structure promoting urban greening. Reinforcing capacity ecosystems is crucial County. broadens perspective provides scientific pragmatic insights tailored disparities, which instrumental assisting various regions achieve
