The Ria de Aveiro is an important coastal lagoon for wildlife in Portugal, where the production of bivalves reaches approximately 2700 tons annually. However, illegal overfishing frequent this lagoon, which causes critical changes ecosystem. In study, using a developed food-web model (Ecopath model), ecological carrying capacity (ECC) and maximum sustained yield (MSY) Manila clam, Ruditapes philippinarum were estimated, effects further increases clam biomass on other species investigated. results showed that 1) current legal catch R. do not yet exceed ECC (172.40 km-2) or MSY (86.20 km-2 year-1) Aveiro; 2) harvested clams represent removing from ecosystem ∼ 581 carbon (C) ∼83 nitrogen (N) annually, with substantial economic implications; 3) increase levels may cause ecotrophic efficiency groups to become unrealistic, potentially leading decreases transfer efficiency, biodiversity health. here are expected guide sustainable development management bivalve aquaculture protection local environment.

China’s marine fisheries have made a huge contribution to the world’s food supply at expense of wild resources collapse by overfishing. Accordingly, government has introduced series measures represented seasonal fishing moratorium achieve sustainable fisheries. To evaluate impact on ecosystem Minjiang Estuary in southeastern China, three models, one 2006, 2016 after 10 years moratorium, and simulated under scenario without were constructed Ecopath with Ecosim. Based model, status 50 was four scenarios different combinations pressure durations moratorium. The results showed that parameters as total flow, mean trophic level, Finn’s index 9,235.407 t km −2 year −1 , 2.94, 0.920, respectively, all significantly higher than those extracted from suggesting effectiveness Under analysis, extending 3 months reducing 50% synergistic effects better result current strategy.
