There has been growing recognition linking spread of COVID-19 with environmental factors. One the factors robust epidemiological literature supporting its role in diseases is housing or built environment. found to occur mostly at homes through secondary household transmission. As most people spend more times inside during pandemic, remains an important site spread. The aim this study examine how and indoor affect transmission COVID-19. This article summarizes involved transmission, including from contaminated surfaces. Indoor be likely due contact close-contact aerosol a crowded, confined, poorly ventilated environment, related poor condition. Whilst surfaces low probability. Based on review, it can suggested that besides existing measures avoiding crowding, close contacts proper ventilation, specific standards for quality control condition might required. Housing public health issue healthy universal concern.

Recent studies showed that land is the most important sink for microplastics (MPs); however, limited information available on photoaging processes of surface MPs are exposed to air. Herein, this study developed two in situ spectroscopic methods systematically explore effect air humidity MP using a microscope Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and laser Raman microscope, which were equipped with control system. Polyethylene microplastics, polystyrene poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC-MPs) used as model MPs. Our results relative (RH) could significantly influence oxygen-containing moieties generated from photo-oxidation, especially PVC-MPs. As RH level varied 10 90%, decrease photogenerated carbonyl group an increase hydroxyl observed. This be attributed involvement water molecules production groups, subsequently inhibited generation. Moreover, adsorption coexisting contaminants (i.e., tetracycline) photoaged exhibited strong dependence, assigned hydrogen bonding between tetracycline carbonyls aged hydroxyls. reveals ubiquitous but previously overlooked aging route, may account changed physiochemical properties under solar irradiation.

The continued evolution of severe acute respiratory syndrome 2 (SARS-CoV-2) requires persistent monitoring its subvariants. Omicron subvariants are responsible for the vast majority SARS-CoV-2 infections worldwide, with XBB and BA.2.86 sublineages representing more than 90% circulating strains as January 2024. To better understand parameters involved in viral transmission, we characterized functional properties Spike glycoproteins from BA.2.75, CH.1.1, DV.7.1, BA.4/5, BQ.1.1, XBB, XBB.1, XBB.1.16, XBB.1.5, FD.1.1, EG.5.1, HK.3, JN.1. Abstract Although the relationship between environmental factors, such as weather conditions and air pollution, COVID-19 case fatality rate (CFR) has been found, impacts of these factors to which infected cases are exposed at different infectious stages (e.g., virus exposure time, incubation period, or after symptom onset) still unknown. Understanding this link can help reduce mortality rates. During first wave in United Kingdom (UK), CFR varied widely among four countries UK, allowing differential be assessed. We developed a generalized linear mixed-effect model combined with distributed lag nonlinear models estimate odds ratio (i.e., temperature, sunlight, relative humidity, rainfall) pollution ozone, $$N{O}_{2}$$ N O 2 , $$S{O}_{2}$$ S $$CO$$ CO $$P{M}_{10}$$ P M 10 $$P{M}_{2.5}$$ 2.5 ) using data March 26, 2020 September 15, UK. After retrospectively time adjusted was estimated back-projection technique, stepwise selection method used choose best based on Akaike information criteria closeness predicted observed values CFR. The risk death reached its maximum level when low temperature (6 °C) occurred 1 day before (OR 1.59; 95% CI 1.52–1.63), prolonged sunlight duration (11–14 h) 3 days 1.24; 1.18–1.30) increased (19 μg/m onset 1.12; 1.09–1.16). reopening, many will identified their symptoms appear. findings highlight importance designing preventive measures against severe illness considering onset.

Background: More effective and automated techniques for disinfecting elevator push-buttons currently need to be developed, especially given that they are frequently touched by hundreds of individuals. Methods: An automatic push-button disinfection device equipped with four 265 nm ultraviolet-C (UVC) light-emitting diode (LED) packages has been developed after each touch reduce the risk infection. In this paper, UVC leakage test, LED package reliability bacteria efficiency test were performed. Results: The Staphylococcus aureus Escherichia coli can reach over 90% in 10 s, end users set multiple periods light their circumstances. is safe human body if distance exceeds 120 mm. accelerated aging result demonstrates reliable under normal operation end-users increase time compensating irradiance drop. Conclusions: provides a safe, highly efficient, stable solution push-buttons.

Abstract Aim: This study investigates the association between meteorological factors (pressure, humidity, and temperature) with COVID-19 hospitalization mortality in Gonabad city of Iran, from April 2019 to January 2021. aimed prediction weather pattern’s impact on monthly trend a region Iran. Methods: cases data were collected over University Medical Science registration bank Meteorological Organization 2021, respectively. Multivariable time series autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA) models correlation multiplicative was used for forecast incidence combines both long-term upward pronounced seasonal pattern cases, Results: Descriptive analysis revealed that highest temperature humidity recorded summer autumn 2020, Moreover, coronary peaks occurrence at 2020 (1059 cases) (133 deaths), Time-series showed. Seasonal amplitude indicates regular rise fall number distinct periods (~10.73). The ARIMA model highlighted fluctuations closely tied changes temperature. Residual standard deviation (1.62) highlighting presence unaccounted influencing case variability. Conclusion: significantly influence trends are need public health strategies consider climatic conditions. Future research should integrate more detailed explore additional environmental enhance predictive healthcare planning.
