The historic United Nations summit on 01st January 2016 adopted the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and set 2030 Agenda for Development. Energy is a key part of sustainable development agenda however current renewable energy system faces several limitations like intermittency, grid integration challenges, storage efficiency. Supercapacitor possesses high efficiency, power density, resource efficiency which enables them to contribute different SDGs promoting clean generation when integrated with solutions (SDG 7), in industrial processes water treatment plants it can reduce operational cost 6), also improve electric vehicle performance by improving thereby contributing SDG 11. Considering applications supercapacitors achieving sustainability, review article focuses importance their types. It reviews materials electrodes electrolytes note future scope besides applications.

In recent years, with the continuous growth of energy demand and large-scale deployment renewable sources, power system’s need for high-capacity transmission storage systems has increased significantly. this context, integration modular multilevel converters (MMCs) (ES) led to development MMC embedded (ES-MMC), which combines advantages both ES system. Over past few research on ES-MMC-related technological issues emerged rapidly. On foundation, paper provides an overview ES-MMC in terms electrical topology, steady-state control strategies, common applications, challenges it faces. First, various interfaces are analyzed, a comparison techno-economic feasibility different submodules is conducted. Then, main strategies distributed examined from several perspectives. Finally, discusses over traditional solutions application scenarios explores possible future directions. The final analysis establishes ES-MMC’s its potential prospects.

Hybrid energy storage systems significantly impact the renewable sector due to their role in enhancing grid stability and managing its variability. However, implementing these requires advanced control strategies ensure correct operation. This paper presents an algorithm for designing power stages of a hybrid system formed by battery, supercapacitor, bidirectional Zeta converter. The stage involves adaptive sliding-mode controller co-designed with circuit parameters. design ensures battery protection against high-frequency transients that reduce lifespan, provides compatibility low-cost microcontrollers. Moreover, continuous output current converter does not introduce harmonics microgrid, or load. proposed solution is validated through application example using PSIM electrical simulation software (version 2024.0), demonstrating superior performance comparison classical cascade PI structure.
