The relationship between economic growth, energy consumption, and carbon emissions has been extensively studied within the Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) framework. However, much of existing literature focuses on direct effects consumption growth-carbon emission nexus, often overlooking potential moderating influences different sources. Thus, this study fills gap by investigating effect renewable growth in emerging economies using panel data methods. presents evidence supporting existence EKC, indicating that negatively impacts environment until a certain threshold income is reached. Moreover, our results indicate weakens emissions. This suggests adoption can help mitigate negative environmental growth. Based findings, it recommended countries should prioritize integration into their mix, reduce dependence fossil fuels, promote strategies align with goals.

ABSTRACT The adverse effects of climate change on humanity have been escalating due to environmental degradation. Consequently, nations compelled implement measures address climate‐related challenges. Within this framework, traditional and recently acknowledged factors play a pivotal role in achieving SDGs, particularly SDG‐13. This study empirically examines the influence newly recognized factors, such as energy transition index (ETI) policy stringency (EPS), alongside like gross domestic product (GDP), renewable use (REU), foreign direct investments (FDI), environment, measured through ecological footprint load capacity factor. Focusing leading emerging economies—excluding Indonesia Mexico data limitations—the utilizes from 2000 2020 applies kernel‐based regularized least squares (KRLS) approach under marginal effect framework explore nexus. findings indicate that (i) GDP FDI do not exhibit environmentally friendly characteristics across examined countries; (ii) REU contributes preservation only Brazil; (iii) ETI EPS significantly enhance quality any countries studied; (iv) KRLS demonstrates high predictive accuracy, 99.6% success rate various models. Overall, research highlights differential these which vary by factor, percentile, country. Based empirical evidence, discusses implications for five economies effectively pursue SDG‐13 leveraging identified factors.

Countries aim to reduce fossil fuel usage and related environmental issues through various demand- supply-side policies. Numerous studies have assessed the policies’ overview. However, analysis of impacts effectiveness these policies in addressing transport-related CO2 emissions is limited globally countries like New Zealand, which a lower energy intensity compared Europe, Asia, Oceania averages. Therefore, this study first analyses trends consumption within transport sector across ten largest total CO2-emitting countries, as well OECD countries. It then provides systematic review relevant and, finally, estimates two econometric models explore effects on market, aimed at reducing GHG from sector, with Zealand case study. The findings indicate that remains significant contributor global emissions, accounting for 40.4% 23.3%, respectively, 2024. countries—China, United States, India, Russia, Japan, Germany, South Korea, Iran, Canada, Saudi Arabia—are responsible 68% emissions. Additionally, except US, highest emissions—Japan, Mexico, UK, Italy, France, Spain, Australia—accounted 15.7% world’s Although share renewable electricity has steadily risen 3.54% 1.4%, 2022, further adoption sources can considerably greenhouse gas sector. Results also both effectively their impact amplified when implemented together. In demand-side proven be more effective than strategies alone, though combining them most efficient approach. This emphasizes importance strategic policy implementation guide world toward sustainable development.

Achieving sustainable models is a crucial challenge today, where government actions play fundamental role. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the impact of fiscal decentralization on CO2 emissions in 40 economies between 2000 and 2020. To end, an unbalanced panel was constructed, Method Moments Quantile Regression (MMQR) employed. As robustness check, Driscoll Kraay’s standard errors approach used. The MMQR results indicate that has positive significant effect across all quantiles emissions. Additionally, it found revenue-side greater lower emissions, while expenditure-side stronger upper quantiles. findings also reveal renewable energy mitigates whereas economic growth, resource rents, information communication technologies increase them, although latter with statistical significance. These are expected serve as basis for public policy formulation aimed at improving environmental quality.

Labor and investment can raise emissions in the short term but may reduce them long if energy efficiency improves. Inflation influences through changes prices production costs. The exchange rate affects by altering cost of imported green technologies. Economic growth generally increases emissions, especially early development stages, as described Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) hypothesis. Given these linkages, this study examines effects labor, investment, inflation, rate, economic on CO2 ASEAN-5 countries. To ensure robust findings, uses Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model applies Dynamic Ordinary Least Squares (DOLS) Fully Modified (FMOLS) for dynamic estimations. Results show that do not significantly impact term. However, inflation have significant positive effects, indicating they contribute to short-term emission increases. In term, while remains insignificant. growth, however, over time. This suggests without strong environmental policies, continued expansion lead higher emissions. Overall, findings highlight structural factors like are crucial shaping Policies such carbon taxes or trading systems help internalize costs encouraging a shift cleaner reducing fossil fuel dependence.
