Many emerging markets rely on land financing, whereby grants are used to raise funds for the government. In short term, financing eases government’s fiscal deficit and boosts regional economic development. However, long-term implications of such behaviour have not been adequately discussed. This study focuses relationship between local government finance dependence (LGLFD) urban innovation quality (UIQ). We find that LGLFD significantly inhibits improvement UIQ, this inhibition occurs through three main channels: changing spending preferences, reducing financial efficiency, deteriorating institutional environment. Our empirical analyses 3662 samples from 264 Chinese cities 2003 2016, confirming our research hypothesis. Further finds there is significant heterogeneity in effect UIQ. Based these conclusions, some policy proposed.

With accelerated urban sprawl, water scarcity and increased stress have become global issues. Water of building industry domestic are two major contributors to total consumption that cannot be ignored. This paper seeks emphasize the effects sprawl on competition between residents. To achieve this objective, a framework for quantifying usage life cycle was first constructed. Additionally, degree computed. study characterized evolution path using standard deviation ellipse. Spatial econometric models were used determine impact competition. The results indicate there is high spatial correlation center gravity China's consistent with north-to-south movement As economic increases by 1%, will rise 0.440%. population expands index shifts 0.018%. Moreover, 0.017% more every 1% increase in land sprawl.
