Abstract
Indigenous-led
cumulative
effects
assessment
and
management
(CEM)
has
emerged
in
recent
years
as
a
proactive
strategic
approach
for
addressing
the
impacts
of
industrial
development
other
activities.
CEM
identifies
monitors
high-priority
values
stressors
develops
strategies
to
restore
improve
condition
those
values.
As
evolves,
it
faces
major
challenge
linking
monitoring
information
effective
actions.
One
promising
address
this
is
use
tiered
triggers,
which
are
series
progressive
markers
associated
with
specified
degrees
change
value,
designed
reflect
increasing
levels
concern
about
value.
These
types
limits
or
thresholds
inform
decision-makers
that
they
need

more
intensively,

state.

we
present
novel
method

triggers

Metlakatla
First
Nation
(located
on
northwest
coast
British
Columbia,
Canada)

community
workshops
