This article examines dams from a relational perspective, understanding them as hydrosocial infrastructures resulting interactions between actors, their mental models, institutions, and water flows. Through literature review in the fields of science technology well socioecological studies, we identified six attributes five drawbacks perspective that are not usually fully considered. Additionally, collated these for four Colombia. The contributes theory to approaching energy infrastructures, such dams, hydrosocial, socioecological, sociotechnical literature. highlights importance new view planning government territory, administration transition toward more just relations.

One of the key driving factors for achieving goal sustainable economic development is to ensure decent employment opportunities. This article explores relationship between industrial intelligence and in China from perspective employment. Based on interprovincial panel data 2006 2019, using fixed-effect regression model mediating-effect model, this study empirically tests impact China. The following conclusions are drawn: (1) Industrial has a significant positive overall scale promoted optimization upgrading skill structure structure. will reduce proportion low-skilled labor increase medium-skilled high-skilled labor. significantly reduces share manufacturing sector increases service sector. (2) levels through capital deepening effects. improved regional productivity (3) results heterogeneity show that improvement level eastern region but not had other regions.

Purpose Recent scholarship has explored higher education institutions’ (HEIs) role in transitioning to a sustainable society, but empirically, questions remain regarding their impact on the sustainability of surrounding areas. This study aims examine correlation between HEIs’ actions and local performance. Design/methodology/approach uses linear regression model principal component analysis performance 105 US metropolitan statistical areas (MSAs) using cities development goal (SDG) index, which hosts 427 HEIs known for efforts. The weighted HEI score is calculated based QS universities ranking. Findings MSA exhibits mix positive negative associations, with individual interlinked SDGs serving as proxies. These correlations encompass wide range goals, from economic aspects SDG 1, 2, 3, 7, 9, social SDG10 16, socio-environmental SDG12. Research limitations/implications Further exploration needed identify causal mechanisms behind associations measures performance, whether influenced by institution, or both. Practical implications suggests that are already associated some community sustainability, greater contributions broader array possible. Social found SDG10, 12 16 index an highlights connection attainment societal goals. Originality/value To best authors’ knowledge, this first through It provides novel empirical evidence demonstrates association

Cross-sector collaborations are key to sustainability transitions yet remain understudied. In this study, we assess the readiness of nonprofit organizations for engaging in collaborative efforts. We develop and empirically validate a theoretical framework focusing on three dimensions readiness: awareness, capacity, actions. Using an important less-studied empirical context Singapore, informed by evidence from thirty-nine in-depth interviews, our findings reveal that nonprofits Singapore highly aware transition challenges opportunities possess capacities such as organizational agility digital adaptability. However, limited proactive actions noted, partially due predominant role state social services. Our research contributes understanding transitions, offering valuable insights strengthening whole-of-society approach transitions.

Previous studies have paid little attention to the causal effect and mechanism between rural residents’ participation in cultural tourism industry of soil erosion control. To analyze this phenomenon empirically, study employs propensity scores matching (PSM) method mediating model explore impact on control ecologically fragile areas. Using data gathered from 572 households Shaanxi, Gansu Ningxia border region, China, results show that: (1) Compared with non-participation, positively influences effect; if residents participating did not participate, would decrease 2.715–2.844. (2) Considering heterogeneity endowments attributes technology, water is also heterogeneous. (3) Mechanism analysis confirms that mainly affects through increased non-agricultural income, optimal allocation labor, improved environmental protection awareness. Finally, some valuable promotable policy implications are put forward.
