Subsurface drip irrigation is an advanced technique that significantly enhances agricultural water efficiency and conserves resources. The Heilonggang region highly representative of the maize–wheat rotation system in China. This was selected for conducting operations maintenance experiments on subsurface systems. primary objective this study to determine most suitable type tape application North China Plain identify specific measures necessary ensure long-term functionality experiment conducted Jing County, Hengshui City. Anti-blocking (Netafim Co., Ltd. Beijing, China) with automatic evenly laid test area. experimental area divided into six rotational groups. key parameter examined single-factor wall thickness, values 0.2, 0.225, 0.25, 0.28, 0.31, 0.38 mm. Drip treatments were randomly sampled groups, there three repeat plots each treatment. Each replicate plot contained ten belts spaced 60 cm apart, interval more than 2 m between adjacent plots. installed October 2023. Prior irrigation, troubleshooting recorded manually 12 March 2024 (wheat regreening stage) 29 June (maize-sowing stage). findings indicated factor influencing stability thickness tapes, while other components operated efficiently. A significant correlation observed number leakage points (p < 0.05), absolute coefficient exceeding 0.9. tapes thicknesses 0.2–0.28 mm (267 instances) higher those 0.31–0.38 (29 instances), primarily due damage caused by mole crickets wireworms. Following injection 40% phoxim, 2.5% lambda-cyhalothrin, 70% imidacloprid insecticides (at a cost 16.7 USD·ha−1) system, insect pests nearly eradicated within one month. cumulative evaluation over 6–10-year period recommended use 0.31 every 1–2 months maintain optimal performance region. These can effectively support stable operation at relatively low cost.
