Developing of functional foods is a promising strategy to reduce the increasing burden colorectal cancer worldwide. Fruit pomace, particularly polyphenol and anthocyanin-rich chokeberry blueberry, valuable ingredient for nutraceuticals. Our study aimed evaluate anti-inflammatory antiproliferative effects blueberry pomace extracts on C2BBe1 carcinoma cells explore underlying signaling pathways. We analyzed both total polyphenols anthocyanins using Folin-Ciocalteu method ultra-performance liquid chromatography, while antioxidative activity was assessed via 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl radical scavenging method. evaluated in vitro trypan blue exclusion, MTT LDH assays, protein levels p-Erk1/2, Akt-1, STAT1, STAT3, occludin, oxidized proteins, MDA-protein adducts through western blotting, as well analysis 37-plex panel inflammatory markers. Chokeberry exhibited higher content, anthocyanin levels, compared extracts, however, cell viability proliferation were stronger. Both fruit pomaces induced non-inflammatory death characterized by membrane integrity loss, beneficial therapy. data suggests chokeberry’s cytotoxicity may be mediated Erk Akt-1 inhibition, uniquely decreased occludin levels. These berries pomaces’ potential mitigate risks enhance treatment efficacy promising, warranting further investigation development.

Immunosuppressive agents are crucial for managing autoimmune diseases and organ transplants, but synthetic options often cause significant side effects. Nigerian medicinal plants, rich in bioactive compounds, present a promising natural alternative immune modulation. This systematic review examines the immunosuppressive properties of phytochemicals phytonutrients from focusing on their mechanisms action therapeutic potential. A comprehensive literature search was conducted following PRISMA guidelines across major databases, including PubMed, Scopus, Google Scholar, Cochrane Library, Web Science, AJOL. The covered studies published between January 2000 August 2024 using keywords like "immunosuppressive," "phytochemicals," "phytonutrients," specific plants. Studies were included if they investigated effects plants through vitro, vivo, or clinical methods. Non-immunological excluded. Data extraction quality assessment independently performed by two reviewers. total 141 reviewed, identifying several with notable Azadirachta indica (neem) demonstrated strong ability to inhibit T-cell proliferation cytokine production. Vernonia amygdalina (bitter leaf) Garcinia kola kola) effective reducing pro-inflammatory cytokines modulating lymphocyte activity. Other Ocimum gratissimum (scent leaf), Allium sativum (garlic), Zingiber officinale (ginger), exhibited regulating release cell activation. These findings suggest that offer diverse agents, working inhibition signaling pathway highlights potential as encouraging further research explore applications integration into current treatment frameworks. Future trials essential validate efficacy safety, uses disease management, inflammatory conditions, transplantation.

Phyllostachys glauca McClure leaves (PML), as economical natural product material, contain abundant phenols, particularly flavonoids, with significant biological activities that contribute to their widespread applications in food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic industries. To study the phenols PML, an ultrasound-assisted deep eutectic solvent extraction method high efficiency low toxicity was established for extracting from PML bamboo of 17 other species. Using Ultra Performance Liquid Chromatography (UPLC) method, content 18 species determined. were found neochlorogenic acid, chlorogenic cryptochlorogenic isoorientin, orientin at contents 0.793 ± 00.17 mg/g, 0.491 0.0081 0.485 0.0043 0.465 0.0021 0.044 0.0005 respectively, a total 2.278 mg/g. These significantly higher than those Additionally, acid simultaneously 15 species, especially PML. Therefore, can be viewed material considerable application values, owing its exhibit importance utilizing resources.
