HCC is globally recognized as a major health threat. Despite significant progress in the development of treatment strategies for liver cancer, recurrence, metastasis, and drug resistance remain key factors leading to poor prognosis majority cancer patients. Thus, there an urgent need develop effective biomarkers therapeutic targets HCC. Collagen, most abundant diverse protein tumor microenvironment, highly expressed various solid tumors plays crucial role initiation progression tumors. Recent studies have shown that abnormal expression collagen microenvironment closely related occurrence, development, invasion, resistance, making it potential target possible diagnostic prognostic biomarker This article provides comprehensive review structure, classification, origin collagen, well its clinical value, offering new insights into diagnosis, treatment, assessment cancer.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common primary liver cancer, posing a significant global health challenge with an increasing incidence. In recent years, multiple staging systems and scores have been proposed, emphasising necessity for development of precise prognostic tools. The well-documented etiological relationship between chronic inflammation carcinogenesis has prompted researchers to explore novel markers associated inflammatory status HCC patients. This review summarises current data about inflammation-based in context HCC. We discuss established like Glasgow Prognostic Score (GPS), modified GPS (mGPS) neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) others not as extensively studied, examining their utility predicting survival outcomes treatment response Furthermore, we emerging scores, including nutritional index (PNI) other lymphocyte-based assessing potential refining risk stratification guiding therapeutic decisions era precision medicine. As research progresses these undergo further refinement integration into evolving landscape management, they carry improving patient outcomes.

In order to enhance the therapeutic value of curcumin in liver cancer treatment, glycyrrhetinic acid-modified pH-sensitive liposomes (GA-pH-Lip@Cur) was developed.GA-pH-Lip@Cur prepared using a thin film dispersion ultrasonication method, and optimal formulation process selected through single-factor experiments Box-Behnken design-response surface methodology. The were evaluated for their morphological appearance, particle size, vitro release at different pH levels, biocompatibility. anti-tumor effect GA-pH-Lip@Cur assessed cell viability assays (CCK-8). vivo hepatic targeting anti-liver tumor efficacy pharmacokinetic pharmacological experiments. The results indicated that optimized exhibited uniform size distribution, good stability, with sustained behavior. Compared conventional liposomes, showed prolonged average retention time significantly increased distribution tissues, indicating excellent targeting. Both evaluations demonstrated effectiveness inhibiting proliferation suppressing growth tumor-bearing mice. conclusion, GA-pH-Lip@Cur, by leveraging acidic microenvironment overexpression acid receptors cells, encapsulates improve its bioavailability, target delivery sites.

We aimed to develop a convenient nomogram predict preoperative MVI in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Patients who underwent surgical resection due HCC from June 2018 2023 at the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University were retrospectively reviewed. Univariate and multivariable logistic linear regression analyses used investigate potential risk factors for MVI. A was plotted based on these factors. The tumor diameter (≥ 5 cm), BCLC stage, PLT (>127.50 × 109/L), AST (>29.50 U/L) AFP (>10.07 ng/ml) identified as independent by univariate analysis. demonstrated decent accuracy estimating presence MVI, an AUC 0.69 (95%CI: 0.64–0.73). calibration curves exhibited close match between predicted probabilities actual estimates (p = 0.947). Decision curve analysis (DCA) revealed that prediction model had high net benefit if threshold probability>20%. High platelet counts strongly associated patients. Our notable clinical application.

Oleanolic acid (OA) is recognized for its anticancer properties, which are similar to those of conventional chemotherapeutic agents used in clinical practice. However, role modulating the sensitivity cancer cells fluorouracil (5FU) has not yet been documented. This study aimed examine effects OA and 5FU co-administration on hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) uncover mechanisms involved. In this study, efficacy combination therapy with treating HCC was evaluated using MTT cell proliferation assay, plate clone formation Hoechst 33342 staining, western blot Ca2+ fluorescence probe. The results demonstrated that compared use or alone, significantly inhibited HEPG2 enhanced apoptosis levels HCC. Additionally, inhibitory effect partially reversed by calcium channel blocker 2-aminoethyldiphenyl borate (2-APB). summary, these findings indicated synergistic treatment can enhance apoptosis, inhibit proliferation, regulate signaling HCC, providing new guidance

Primary hepatic carcinosarcoma (HCS) is an extremely rare malignant tumor with carcinomatous and sarcomatous elements. Few reported cases of HCS exist, especially sufficient records to describe imaging pathological features, making the diagnosis, treatment, prognosis a significant challenge for physicians. Here, we report case spontaneous rupture as initial symptom in 77-year-old elderly male who was admitted right upper abdominal pain 8 days. The computed tomography enhancement scan revealed one intrahepatic mixed density massive, enhanced shadow located mainly outside liver. We performed hepatectomy segment 4 through laparotomy. postoperative pathology results demonstrated HCS. patient recovered smoothly discharged after surgery. However, experienced recurrence died 5 months This underscores importance identifying high-risk populations personalized treatment strategies cases.
