Bats (order Chiroptera) are increasingly recognized as important reservoirs and potential vectors of pathogenic antimicrobial-resistant bacteria (ARB), with implications for human, animal, environmental health. This study aimed to assess the presence antimicrobial resistance profiles bacterial isolates from bat populations in Sicily, an area which data currently limited. A total 132 samples (120 rectal swabs 12 guano samples) were collected at four sites provinces Catania, Siracusa, Ragusa. Bacteriological analysis yielded 213 isolates, including 161 Gram-negative 52 Gram-positive strains, representing 55 different species. Among Escherichia coli, Citrobacter freundii, Morganella morganii most frequently detected, while Bacillus licheniformis Staphylococcus xylosus predominant among bacteria. Antimicrobial susceptibility testing revealed high rates colistin, amoxicillin, ampicillin oxacillin, ceftazidime, lincomycin strains. Notably, 84.5% exhibited multidrug resistance. These findings highlight role bats ARB underline importance ongoing monitoring within a One Health framework mitigate risks public animal
