Abstract To tackle the upcoming renovation wave, this work evaluates strategies with a life cycle GHG emissions perspective and includes time sequencing in decision-making process. A case study is used to conduct full assessment of line Swiss normative context. Improvements operational energy consumption are evaluated an model using software Lesosai considering limits from SIA 380/1. calculated KBOB data inventory 2032 methodology. The measures then examined individually carbon payback indicator cumulative over contrast budgets. Results show that sequence refurbishment steps can increase or decrease ca. 30% lifetime building. Changing fossil-fuel based heating system most impactful measure must happen as soon possible. Switching decarbonized systems reduces effectiveness subsequent but poses question availability. Fully renovating building delaying change by only 7 years compromise achievement targets.

Photovoltaic (PV) panels have emerged as a transformative technology for decarbonizing electricity consumption and mitigating climate change. However, to fully analyze the potential of PVs in achieving sustainable energy goals, careful consideration life cycle including embodied impact is needed. While diverse range PV module types can be found on market, structured data missing that would enable analysis comparison various configurations. The goal this paper provide comprehensive, harmonized environmental different systems captured high-resolution database. It includes selection cell related components, well location production deployment. In addition, web-based configurator offered, enabling quick estimation associated with user-customized panels. Using framework, we demonstrate Global Warming Potential panel anywhere between 10 – 380 kgCO2eq/sqm. results study therefore support stakeholders estimating their higher level detail, leading more informed environmentally conscious decisions during design implementation solar photovoltaic projects.

Abstract Polymer‐stabilized liquid crystals (PSLCs) are widely used in smart windows, light modulators, and dimmed glass. However, their low mechanical strength, unsatisfactory electro‐optical properties, poor durability limit large‐scale application. In this study, a PSLC film with outstanding performance is prepared by incorporating multifunctional molecule into fine‐sculptured crystal/polymer composite. The designed to form vertically oriented layer silane coupling agent through two‐step self‐assembly process improve the strength of PSLCs connecting polymer networks covalent bonds. addition, it endowed good thermal stability reversible change from hydrogen bonds at temperatures C═N high temperatures. A ultralow saturation voltage (V sat < 25 V), wide operating temperature viewing angle performance, (60–100% improvement), (15 000 cycles) followed photomask‐assisted photopolymerization. Finally, bending‐resistant, flexible passive radiative cooling capacity tested achieved excellent management. This composite demonstrated superior every aspect, promoting application windows for cars buildings.

Several countries are moving towards imposing mandatory limit values that consider the life-cycle greenhouse gases emissions (GHGE) of new construction projects. While they offer valuable guidance low-carbon practices, may not be sufficient to ensure building activities alignment with ambitious climate goals. To do so, it is imperative integrate all stock-level dynamics and evolving nature influenced by decarbonisation efforts in energy industry sectors. This article introduces a methodological framework designed explore potential evolution dwelling stock GHGE, ultimate goal ofassessing their objectives. Using national database, alongside drivers scenarios for upstream sectors, facilitates creation multiple calculation yearly cumulative Whole-Life Carbon (WLC) emissions. France taken as case study investigate compatibility its recent implementation sectoral policies. The findings suggest prioritising elimination fossil fuel usage emerges an optimal strategy decreasing operational GHGE. Regarding embodied more scenario, greater relative contribution, potentially accounting up half WLC 2050. Existing daylight standards encourage larger glazed areas, which often results in solar gains the summer and heat losses winter. To avoid these, shadings, thicker frames multiple panes of glass are required to respect operational energy targets. These imperatives turn influence embodied carbon building. Yet performance trade-offs between have so far largely remained overlooked existing research. More specifically, there is currently no guidance on what reasonable budget should be associated with façade its components. The present study thus aims 1) reveal how whole life affected by improving 2) define budgets at components level. In this paper, an explorative method proposed potential achieve study's illustrated through application a specific case study.
