Wetlands are often referred to as the Earth’s kidneys. However, wetlands worldwide still negatively affected due a lack of comprehensive understanding wetland landscape ecological health (WLEH). Based on this background, we analyzed and compared conceptual definitions, research progress, contents (in terms structural, functional, process health), methods (indicator species approach, integrity assessment, model evaluation including vigor–organization–resilience (VOR), pressure–state–response (PSR), feature–function–socioeconomic (EFFS) models, water–gas CO2 calculation) over past 20 years (2000–2022). Moreover, concept definition progress ecosystem (EH) (LEH) WLEH outlook were analyzed. In study, it was shown that could be considered LEH subset, while is specific EH perspective. These three concepts share common focus conditions, functions, services considering processes habitat characteristics. they differ in scope types ecosystems considered. This review may provide references for conservation restoration artificial restored landscapes.

Identifying the main factors influencing land surface temperature (LST) of each local climate zone (LCZ) built type is great significance for controlling LST. This study investigated LST LCZ in two Asian megacities: Tokyo and Shanghai. Each area both megacities was classified according to scheme. The diurnal LST, pervious fraction (PSF), albedo (SA), average building height (⟨BH⟩), gross coverage ratio (λp) were also calculated. Finally, influence properties on investigated. results demonstrated that different types differed ⟨BH⟩ factor compact mid-rise open high-rise Tokyo, Shanghai; PSF other types. Moreover, negatively correlated with Based above characteristics type, specific mitigation strategies proposed approach this can contribute perspectives urban planners policymakers develop highly feasible reasonable strategies.

Clarifying the factors that influence land surface temperature (LST) is crucial for proposing specific LST mitigation strategies. This study focuses on Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei (BTH) Region and investigates influencing of various local climate zone (LCZ) built types from perspectives urban morphology, cover, human activity. The results suggest areas LCZ vary across cities within BTH Region, attributed to differences in city size Gross Domestic Product (GDP). area Beijing Tianjin, with significantly high sizes GDP, exceeds 2000 km2. In contrast, Qinhuangdao, Zhangjiakou Chengde, which have relatively low this less than 500 However, main same type are highly consistent. Building coverage ratio (BCR), average building height (ABH) pervious fraction (PSF) three most important factors. correlation between BCR mainly concentrated compact high-rise open types, Pearson coefficient (r) ranging 0.2 0.44; ABH high-rise, mid-rise, mid-rise r -0.2 -0.52; PSF almost all -0.56. By integrating these findings features each strategies were further proposed. can help develop context Coordinated Development thereby promoting healthy sustainable development region.

The climate affects how a city's outdoor spaces are utilized. It is more likely that people will use and appreciate public areas designed for pedestrian use, such as parks, squares, streets, foot-cycle pathways, when they provide comfortable healthy environment. A predicted increase in global temperature has made the uncomfortable, especially during summer heat stress strengthened anticipated. This phenomenon severe urban areas, often affected by Urban Heat Island (UHI) effect. Since spatial characteristics of city influence its climate, design can be deployed to mitigate combined effects change UHI. research conducted study UHI effect on thermal comfort an open space Rome (Italy) aims at identifying implementing methodology designers follow reduce impact islands space. based concept adopting Sustainable Development Goals guidelines; it investigates UHI's examines microclimatic conditions perception users through PET, PMV PPD values, were assessed simulations with ENVI-MET software. thus proposes redesign site Rome, masterplan sustainable principles, aimed improving site. solution was then validated ex post simulations.

Exploring the complex relationship between population change and surface urban heat island (SUHI) effect has important practical significance for ecological transformation development of shrinking cities in context prevalence shrinkage global climate change. This paper compares SUHI region (Northeast Region, NR) growing (Yangtze River Delta, YRD) China, explores their differences driving mechanisms, using GIS spatial analysis Geodetector model. Our results indicated that there are significant changes intensity these two regions. About 72.22% NR were shrinking, while intensities increased by an average 1.69°C. On contrary, YRD shows a linear growth trend, decreased 0.11°C on average. The sustainable development goals (SDGs) suggest cities and communities (Goal 11) as inclusive, safe, resilient, human settlements. However, existing efforts in urban sustainability have mainly focused on ecological environmental sustainability, with little attention paid to development, economic, cultural sustainability. Moreover, a lack of adaptability is barrier cross-nation or cross-region implementation many frameworks due diverse contexts. Furthermore, most studies developed guides only for one-time assessments the progress has been neglected. Improving by considering multiple dimensions local through dynamic assessment remains question. Therefore, this study aims develop an environment examination system (UEES) framework that includes construction, economy industry, resource, municipal facilities, potential dimensions.
