The carbon emission trading scheme (ETS) is critical to China's ability reach the established dioxide (CO 2 ) emissions reduction goal by 2030 and neutrality 2060. To determine whether pilot ETS policy promulgated in China 2011 has induced green technological innovation, we conducted a multidimensional empirical test assess financial patent licensing data of Chinese A-share (publicly listed) enterprises Shanghai Shenzhen from 2004 2019. Using difference-in-difference model with robustness checks, did not find that had innovation effects on entire industries or all manufacturing. However, identify significant improvements some resource-based industrial enterprises, promotion effect led more utility models than invention patents. Furthermore, policy's greatest green-innovation are reflected primarily new patents/utility for low-carbon, energy-saving, alternative energy technologies, particularly among large nonstate enterprises. impact mechanism tests indicate encourages through four instruments: increasing benefit income reducing constraints, granting subsidies, incentives enterprise R&D. Solar photovoltaic thermal (PV/T) with phase change material (PCM) technology is one of the incentive research areas in renewable energy application aspect, which attracts increasingly attention globalized market to tackle climate change.
