This paper investigates the potential of Micro Gas Turbines (MGTs) in global shift towards low-carbon energy systems, particularly focusing on their integration within microgrids and distributed generation systems. MGTs, recognized for fuel flexibility efficiency, have yet to achieve commercialization success rival technologies such as Internal Combustion Engines (ICEs), wind turbines, solar power (PV) installations. Through a comprehensive review recent techno-economic assessment (TEA) studies, we highlight challenges opportunities emphasizing critical role TEA driving market penetration technological advancement. Comparative analysis with ICE RES reveals significant gaps activities which hindered broader adoption. also explores learning experience effects associated TEA, demonstrating how increased research propelled technologies. The broad range effects, rates (α) varying from 0.1 0.25 (β) 0.05 0.15, highlighting these play reducing levelized cost (LCOE) improving net present value (NPV) MGT Hybrid systems integrating MGTs renewable sources (RESs) demonstrate most substantial reductions efficiency improvements, like hybrid CCHP achieving rate α = LCOE USD 0.02/kWh 0.017/kWh. These findings emphasize need targeted studies strategic investments unlock full decarbonized landscape. By leveraging stakeholders can predict trajectories more accurately make informed investment decisions, positioning competitive sustainable solution transition.
