Decarbonisation strategies are crucial for mitigating the adverse effects of climate change and achieving sustainable development. However, successful implementation these in developing countries remains a significant challenge due to resource constraints, competing development priorities, institutional barriers. Abstract This study explores the integration of sustainability in decision-making processes within a steel manufacturing company Poland. As global clients increasingly demand sustainable practices, companies must adapt their operations to meet these expectations. We applied Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) methods, specifically TOPSIS (Technique for Order Preference by Similarity an Ideal Solution) and VIKOR (in Serbian: VlseKriterijuska Optimizacija I Komoromisno Resenje), along with three weighting techniques, namely Entropy, Standard Deviation, CRITIC (Criteria Importance Through Inter-criteria Correlation), evaluate four products. Nine criteria were considered, including material type, corrosion protection, surface treatment, various processes. Our findings reveal that MCDA framework effectively ranks products from most least sustainable, highlighting importance raw efficiency waste management. research demonstrates practical application methods assessing industry, providing basis future studies extend this other sectors regions. Overall, approach supports informed decision-making, aligning broader goals while satisfying demands business partners clients.

Corporate sustainability performance is gaining ever greater importance. The negative impact of climate change manifested through heavy air, water and soil pollution. Polluting sectors, as the major players, are characterized by large amounts emissions, waste consumption resources, therefore have a larger on environment. Companies operating in polluting sectors recognized globally main sources greenhouse gas emissions; thus, their widely debated. Despite character, such companies strive for higher profitability, better financial operational efficiency. However, resources create potential innovation investments companies. It accepted that research experimental development (R&D) expenditures enable new business ideas, models, products, services, processes. while pursuing targets, results could be directed towards performance. purpose this paper to analyze how interact with scores. For it, we identified three essential pillars sustainability: environmental, governance, social. Using ordinary least squares (OLS) regressions, models were developed each pillar sustainability, including corporate indicators R&D expenditures. obtained provide insights company sector size turnover significantly interacts all sustainability. also found debt ratio, earnings current liquidity significant relation only environmental social indicators.
