The rebound effect refers to the phenomenon where energy efficiency improvements lead increased consumption, offsetting some of expected savings. This article aims estimate direct residential electricity consumption in Saudi Arabia and explores potential solutions mitigate its impact. Understanding magnitude is crucial for policymakers develop effective conservation strategies. study employs a time-series modeling approach, using dataset covering 31 years, 1990–2021, four regions within Arabia, incorporating various socioeconomic energy-related variables. Kingdom, which varies across regions, ranges from 41% 71%. Since inception first wave price reform 2016, Kingdom has witnessed power sector totaling 39.02 TWh (6.5 Twh per annum), total 28.13 Mt. CO2 equivalent emissions (4.69 annum) during period 2016–2021. These findings add existing literature on effect, further enriching our understanding this complex implications. They also provide valuable insights planners helping them strategies minimize promote conservation.

The environmental impact of building energy renovation is commonly evaluated through life cycle assessment (LCA). However, existing LCA studies often overlook the performance gap—a substantial disparity between calculated and actual use—when estimating operational use before after renovation. This paper examines influence gap on comparative unrenovated renovated buildings. First, a statistical correction model, based recent large-scale Flemish study, developed to correct regulatory for space heating domestic hot water in pragmatic way. Subsequently, model applied four single-family dwellings with different characteristics that underwent accordance regulations. results show anticipated savings over 60-year study period decrease significantly when applied, reducing estimated 49–80% 21–49%. Moreover, payback times increase from 2.9–9.1 years 10.4–22.5 years. Notably, neglecting LCAs leads systematic underestimations material significance. research underscores importance integrating into obtain more accurate estimations benefits renovations.
