The global imperative for clean energy solutions has positioned photocatalytic water splitting as a promising pathway sustainable hydrogen production. This review comprehensively analyzes recent advances in TiO2-based systems, focusing on materials engineering, source effects, and scale-up strategies. We recognize the advancements nanoscale architectural design, engineered heterojunction of catalysts, cocatalyst integration, which have significantly enhanced efficiency. Particular emphasis is placed crucial role chemistry system performance, analyzing how different sources-from wastewater to seawater-impact evolution rates stability. Additionally, addresses key challenges scaling up these including optimization reactor light distribution, mass transfer. Recent developments artificial intelligence-driven discovery process are discussed, along with emerging opportunities bio-hybrid systems CO2 reduction coupling. Through critical analysis, we identify fundamental propose strategic research directions advancing technology toward practical implementation. work will provide comprehensive framework exploring advanced composite developing efficient scalable multifunctional simultaneous

Rewetted peatlands represent emerging environments that combine carbon storage with green innovation supporting rural regeneration and community transitioning to low-carbon economies. This chapter describes the establishment of innovative integrated multi-trophic aquaculture (IMTA) sites in areas as new bioeconomy demonstrators for viable can be replicated globally strategic sustainable change-of-land-use. Fish waste is used by microalgae duckweed produce high-value proteins other added-value ingredients biorefined on-site human animal feeds. These peatland-based demonstration use organic, zero-pollution, zero-waste climate-friendly principles. They operate at vital interface between bottom-up end-user stakeholders top-down regreening policies. IMTA digitally transformed real-time performance monitoring, product development supply-chain management, security. The outcome this novel peatland site aligns will contribute achieving many United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals.

Global climate change has intensified pressure on China's agricultural carbon emissions reduction. This study investigates the impact of technological progress using panel data from 30 Chinese provinces (2002–2021). The research employs DEA-Malmquist index to measure total factor productivity, emission method calculate emissions, and two-tier stochastic frontier models for analysis. Results reveal that exhibits a significant double-edged effect intensity, with positive increasing intensity by 9.01% negative reducing it 12.18%, resulting in net reduction 3.17%. Different types show varying impacts: mechanical increases while resource-saving biochemical technologies reduce it. Notable regional heterogeneity exists, Southwest, South, Central, Northeast, Northwest regions showing effects, North East China exhibit effects. findings suggest need differentiated policies targeted strategies achieve “dual carbon” goals.
