A steady flow of energy is a must for enterprises to keep their production lines humming along efficiently. This paper employs quasi-natural experiment based on the phased construction West-to-East Natural Gas Transmission Project (WENGT), and utilizes staggered differences-in-differences (DID) method with panel data from Chinese cities between 2000 2022 assess influence supply regional entrepreneurship. The results indicate that significantly enhances entrepreneurship WENGT route, strengthening security promoting labour aggregation as important mechanisms driving this effect. However, strict environmental regulations high costs may weaken positive impact Finally, generates 'siphon effect' in neighbouring cities. provides empirical evidence theoretical support local governments attract new startups through infrastructure, offering policy implications sustainable economic development resource equity.

Due to the deteriorating ecological environment in recent years, many countries have introduced relevant policies support development of clean energy. This paper focuses on wind power generation as subject for examining green R&D diffusion. Many enterprises take advantage information asymmetry between them and government carry out fake research cheat taxes, resulting a large loss fiscal revenue state. The aim study is simulate different scenarios diffusion China’s energy industry under tax rates, incentives, penalties. results show that state’s ability increase penalties can inhibit firms’ behavior camouflaging R&D. Under current introduction quotas electricity market, coupled with strong penalties, real capability enterprises. government’s implementation zero incentives do not capabilities. effect more significant context market demand. suggests quota system encourage firms accelerate pace technological innovation, while strict regulatory necessary avoid policy abuse optimize resource allocation.

Introduction This study investigates the effects of urban polycentricity and city size on total factor productivity (TFP) in Chinese cities. Methods Using high-resolution population distribution data from Landscan applying instrumental variable (IV) estimation to address endogeneity concerns, we construct a novel measure polycentricity. Results Our findings show that while expanding enhances TFP through increased economies scale, greater negatively affects by weakening agglomeration innovation spillovers. Discussion The analysis suggests reduces concentration economic activities, which hampers knowledge diffusion innovation, leading lower productivity. Additionally, identify optimal for maximizing TFP, where excessive growth beyond certain point becomes counterproductive.
