Abstract This study investigated the anaerobic co-digestion (AcoD) of brewery by-products for biomethane and bioenergy recovery, focusing on operational performance evaluation, kinetic analysis, microbial metataxonomic, metabolic function prediction. The biochemical methane potential was conducted under mesophilic (35 °C) methanogenic conditions (pH 7.5) by mixing wastewater sludge from treatment plant (1:1, v/v), following addition (2.5 – 12.5 %, w/v) brewer’s spent grains (BSG). results demonstrate that highest yield (88.02 mL CH 4 /g TVS) obtained with % BSG, which 20.66-fold higher than control reactor operated (4.26 TVS). recovery could generate electricity (0.348 kWh/kg heat (1556 MJ/kg TVS), avoiding greenhouse gas emissions (0.114 kg CO 2-eq /kg community dynamics revealed a predominance Halobacterota, Chloroflexi, Euryarchaeota phylum. genera Methanosaeta Methanobacterium, Anaerolineaceae family predominated in AcoD process. prediction showed presence genes (K01895, K00193, K00625, K00925) associated direct activation acetate acetoclastic pathway production. Finally, data provide perspective using production biorefinery concept, reducing environmental impacts contributing to circular bioeconomy transition beer industry. Graphical abstract

Anaerobic co-digestion offers a promising approach to enhancing biogas production from surplus by-products of wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) and agricultural waste while reducing environmental negative impact. This study investigated the anaerobic thickened sewage sludge (ATSS) rice straw (RS) under mesophilic conditions (35 ± 1 °C). In phase experiment, lab-scale reactors with varying MRs RS (0 %, 4 8 16 % based on weight) were employed determine optimal MR for maximizing quantity methane content. Phase 2 examined impact mechanical mixing (MM) production, pathogen trace element reduction, calorific value (CV) co-digested mixture compared digested (DTS) individually assess potential energy co-digestion. Results revealed that yielded highest volume, approximately 2.5 times DTS alone, carbon dioxide contents within typical ranges. MM in further increased volume by 2.8 DTS. Residential areas are primary functional spaces of urban built-up areas, representing social structure externally and influencing spatial fabric (SF). Chinese cities have increasingly experienced renewal following significant population growth expansion in the last four decades. We selected Shanghai as research scope, considering 6731 residential quarters objects, which were identified classified into six types. Based on complex network theory analysis methods, an (URSN) was constructed central implementing through code. The degree distribution robustness URSN examined, “communities” identified. findings indicate that stability, like robustness, implies harmonious smooth interactions information transfer, consistent with SDG 11, where large-degree node play important role must be prioritized renewal. Meanwhile, identification results help us understand territory identity areas. This provides new concepts methods for examining SF integrate “physical” “social” spaces, compares this approach to traditional point-axis structure, pioneers study from perspective networks by providing a way visualizing relationship between network-like structure.

Anaerobic digestion (AD) is a preferred method for food waste (FW) treatment due to its sustainability and potential production of renewable bioenergy. However, the accumulation volatile fatty acids (VFAs) ammonia often destabilizes AD process, managing digestate byproduct poses additional challenges. This study investigates use co-pyrolysis biochar synthesized from rice straw (DRB) enhance methane efficiency. DRB addition increased cumulative yield by 37.1%, improved VFA conversion efficiency, achieved 42.3% higher NH3-N-removal rate compared control group. The COD-removal was 68.7% throughout process. Microbial analysis revealed that selectively enriched Fastidiosipila Methanosarcina, promoting direct interspecies electron transfer (DIET) yield. These findings highlight DRB’s efficiency support closed-loop resource utilization.
