Industrial sites have considerable potential to utilise low-temperature excess heat from cooling for heating via pumps, limited mainly by the overlap of and demand profiles. Coupling industrial infrastructure with district (DH) systems is therefore an attractive solution, as DH requires new sources decarbonisation. This article examines techno-economic feasibility converting a substation at German production site into prosumer using TRNSYS simulation model incorporating pump, cold storage, allowing bi-directional transfer substation. Subsequent optimisation minimised levelised cost (LCOHC) adjusting pump capacity. The results indicate that integration without feed-in, reduces LCOHC about 10% compared decoupled cooling. However, achieve similar in configuration, which includes feeding surplus network, compensation payment 80% current costs required. This arrangement allows increase capacity 27% output, providing 4~GWh/a system May September.
