Abstract The purpose of the work was to determine trends in land cover dynamics a case study small town for period from 1991 2021 using GIS technologies find measures prevent negative anthropogenic impacts. object is territory Kaharlyk, Kyiv region, Ukraine, and its landscaping system. Dynamic processes were monitored freely available Landsat time series. classified into five categories: forest, grassland, cropland, urban (buildings) wetland (water). Using Morphological Spatial Pattern Analysis, connectivity elements forest determined. Despite relatively high rates provision population with green infrastructure large forested area, forests have an insular (fragmentary) nature low connectivity. This does not contribute creation cohesive network ecological framework town. It established that there no significant changes town, however, some emerged, which should be taken account future planning.

In Togo, the cities of Lomé and Kara are undergoing rapid urbanisation driven by strong population growth expansion urban built-up areas, leading to significant reductions in green spaces (UGSs). UGSs vital for climate regulation human well-being mitigating heat, improving air quality, supporting mental health. This directly replaces vegetated areas with impervious surfaces, diminishing UGS their associated ecosystem services. Consequently, climatic vulnerability has increased, highlighting need sustainable development conservation. study examines spatiotemporal dynamics using Landsat imagery from 1988, 2000, 2012, 2022, applying a supervised image classification approach maximum likelihood algorithm. Post-classification change detection quantified loss. Additionally, models 2060, 2100 were developed Shared Socioeconomic Pathways (SSP 2.45 SSP 5.85) multifactorial modelling approach. The results reveal decline 85.98% 40.78% 93.99% 36.68% between 1988 primarily due urbanisation. Vulnerable zones, currently UGSs, risk disappearance 2060–2100, exacerbating risks. Urgent measures needed, including conservation policies, creation, community awareness promote sustainability.

Globally, natural habitats have suffered tremendous damage from human activities, a phenomenon that is increasingly evident in basin regions. The management of regions dependent on understanding the various impacts activities these ecosystems. Despite studies been conducted effects regions, there still lot doubt regarding impact quality To fill this gap, study employs series spatial analysis methods and logistic regression modeling to delve into temporal patterns habitat Yangtze River Basin (YRB) as well differences sub-basins YRB. findings indicate 0.408% decline overall environmental YRB area 2000 2020, accompanied by 15.396% surge activities. Notably, southeastern Qilian Mountains mountainous northwestern sector Sichuan emerge pivotal areas for restoration. Conversely, southwestern urban clusters Delta (YRD) face significant deterioration. Spatial analyses reveal noteworthy trend: burgeoning region pose substantial threat recovery efforts. Further differential focusing upper, middle, lower segments underscore exert most pronounced within region, while upper experiences least influence. implications are manifold. It furnishes valuable policy insights comprehensive targeted preservation across By delineating restoration degradation highlighting segments, research lays solid foundation informed decision making conservation ecosystem

This study assessed urban growth in Kaduna using remote sensing indices, landscape metrics, and Landsat images (2003, 2013, 2023). Land use/land cover was carried out the decision tree algorithm, while transition matrix computed ArcGIS 10.8. Landscape fragmentation Fragstat 4.3. The results revealed that between 2003 2023, bare land, built-up areas, water bodies increased by 596 km2, 121.04 0.22 respectively, cultivated land decreased 525.54 km2 191.91 respectively. For rate of change, lands, 29.81 6.05 0.01 annually, lands 26.28 9.60 land-use transition, 112.71 areas remained persistent. Cultivated cover, transitioned to losing 85.43 13.91 0.91 analysis number patches from 405 614 2023. Patch density, largest patch index, total edge, edge area-weighted mean shape fractal dimension index 2013 but indicating sprawl. However, contiguity consistently concluded urbanization is leading driver fragmentation. recommends development should be controlled reduce encroachment on agricultural habitats, thereby reducing degradation.

Habitat quality is a comprehensive index reflecting ecological conditions, land use impact, and human survival. Susceptibility to geological disasters influenced by factors such as ecology, the environment, activities. Analyzing effects of habitat on disaster susceptibility its spatial dynamics crucial for protection assessing risks. This research focused Pingshan County, using InVEST 3.7.0 model ArcGIS evaluate 2020. The relationships were examined with GeoDa investigate impact susceptibility. findings are follows: (1) County generally exhibits high quality, showing significant clustering susceptibility—predominantly high–high in west low–low east. (2) environment significantly influences relationship between susceptibility, an overall positive correlation but negative correlations certain areas. Geological primarily governed rather than quality. (3) In mountainous regions comparable variations chiefly driven Including activities metric enhances evaluation accuracy. study provides scientific foundation protection, assessment development mitigation policies.

Urbanization, coupled with industrialization, leads to both economic growth and exponential urban growth, resulting in deteriorating environmental quality areas, which poses a significant threat the sustainability of cities. Hence, restore biodiversity ensure regional sustainability, it is necessary immediately evaluate eco-environmental areas. The present research investigates spatio-temporal changes Asansol industrial city using an integrated 'Urban Eco-Environmental Index' (UEEQI) developed utilizing Google Earth Engine platform remote sensing-based approach. study used four spectral indices, including Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), Modified Water (MNDWI), Built-up (NDBI), Bareness (NDBaI), along Land Surface Temperature (LST) (as thermal index), derived from sensing data measure quality. Global Moran's I LISA were quantify spatial autocorrelation, showing clustering similar values or outliers UEEQ within geographic space. findings showed that high mean NDBI NDBaI contributed lower UEEQI value 0.38 2021 compared previous decades. distribution 'Very Poor' category had grown 0.06% 1991 2% 2021, while 'Poor', 'Good', 'Excellent' categories declined. Over 30 years, rising trend 'Highly Degraded' 'Degraded' areas decreasing 'Improved' Improved' city. scatter plot illustrated highly positive clustered pattern across Hotspots mainly found urbanized "Average" eco-environment Conversely, covered bare surfaces, fallow lands, brickfields recognized as Coldspots. This crucial for determining specific regions declining encourages local authorities decision-makers integrate conservation zones into planning foster healthier, more resilient, sustainable
