ABSTRACT Weed communities influence the dynamics of ecosystems, particularly in disturbed environments where anthropogenic activities often result higher pollution. Understanding existing between native weed and invasive species is crucial for effective management normal ecosystem functioning. Recognising potential resistance to invasion can help identify suitable plants restoration operations. This review aims investigate adaptations exhibited by non‐native weeds that may affect invasions within environments. Factors such as ecological characteristics, altered soil conditions, potentially confer a competitive advantage relative or are analysed. Moreover, roles biotic interactions competition, mutualistic relationships, allelopathy shaping described. Emphasis given consideration key factor provides insights conservation efforts Additionally, this underscores need further research unravel underlying mechanisms devise targeted strategies. These strategies aim promote mitigate negative effects By delving deeper into these insights, we gain an understanding ecosystems develop valuable species, restore long‐term sustainability.

Fallopia japonica (Japanese knotweed, Reynoutria or Polygonum cuspidatum) is considered an extremely invasive plant worldwide and a bioindicator of heavy metals. Yet, its potential as crop for honeybees still underevaluated. This study employs atomic absorption spectrometry to quantitatively analyze the concentration macro-elements, namely, calcium (Ca), potassium (K) magnesium (Mg); micro-elements, such copper (Cu), iron (Fe), manganese (Mn) selenium (Se); trace elements, i.e., cadmium (Cd), chromium (Cr), nickel (Ni) lead (Pb) in different anatomic parts (FJ) plants (roots, rhizomes, stems, leaves) their traceability into honey. research encompasses thorough examination samples collected from northwestern western part Romania, providing insights elemental composition. The results showed that level elements decreases terms honey (Pb was not detected any analyzed samples, while Cd had minimum content 0.001 mg/kg), ensuring quality health safety consumption. Moreover, data generated can function valuable resource explore plant’s positive eco-friendly impacts, particularly relation

Abstract Introduction Prosopis juliflora (Sw.) DC. substantially threatens dry rangelands due to its invasive attributes, exacerbated by climate change, land-use practices, and anthropogenic activities. Despite the urgent need understand ecological impacts, comprehensive studies examining relationship between functional traits reproductive fitness across diverse habitats scenarios are lacking. This study investigated of in Afar region Ethiopia, focusing on three types: dry-season grazing lands, wet-season wildlife reserves. Methods Plant samples were collected from 192 plots assess their adaptive potential genetic variation, alongside relevant physiographic climatic data. approach aims elucidate contributions these factors observed variation plasticity rangeland types differing land use intensity. Generalized linear mixed models co-occurrence networks employed analyze complex interaction. Results Our findings revealed significant fruiting onset duration, with lands demonstrating a shorter duration compared Genetic was for total seed mass number, indicating robust adaptability. The relative growth rate higher reserves highlighting advantages nutrient-rich environments. Additionally, analysis identified soil type as critical factor influencing trait performance. Conclusions underscores targeted management strategies mitigate impacts , emphasizing role nutrients fitness. offer valuable insights into dynamics species ecosystems inform conservation efforts.

Context Comparing the life cycles of wild and cultivated carrots is vital for identifying any overlapping flowering periods, as have potential to compromise genetic purity commercial carrot seeds via pollen flow. However, little information known about how juvenility, vernalization, their interactions impact pattern in New Zealand. Aims We evaluated influence different juvenile phases, vernalization phases on floral characteristics behaviour carrots. Methods The study was a factorial randomized complete block design with four blocks five plants per block, incorporating treatments genotypes (G1, cultivated; G2, carrots), (J1, 12 weeks; J2, 8 J3, 4 weeks), (V1, V2, V3, no vernalization). Flowering percentage, time, percentage overwinter survival, traits, including number umbels branches, height stem were recorded analyzed by ANOVA. Key results Cultivated flowered only when exposed weeks while shown 100% across all treatment combinations. Wild exhibited higher overwintering survival rate (94.9–100%) than (66.1–98.3%). Prolonged exposure significantly affected traits Conclusions There high likelihood periods between carrots, can survive both winter summer annuals. Implications To avoid undesirable flow during we recommend timely weed management strategies control

Common mycorrhizal networks (CMNs) facilitate nutrient transfer between plants, but their role in supporting non-mycorrhizal species remains largely unexplored. This study investigates the effect of CMNs on growth and uptake plant Chenopodium album association with Parthenium hysterophorus. The treatments included C. alone, grown P. hysterophorus to allow CMN formation, treated fungicide inhibit activity. Results showed that treatment significantly enhanced content (N P) compared control. There was no colonization album, while high suggested due through CMNs. resulted reduced content, providing further evidence associations plants album. These findings provide first can enhance partners.
