The massive use of herbicides since the 1950s has resulted in increasing problems with herbicideresistant weeds and pollution environment, including food, feed, water. These side effects have political pressures to reduce herbicide application. European Commission aims risk chemicals more hazardous pesticides EU. Therefore, new weed control methods are demand. Laser weeding might be an alternative replace or supplement other Integrated Weed Management (IPM) strategy. This work aimed investigate how laser energy affected common when apical meristem was exposed irradiation at early stages development. A 50 W thulium-doped fibre a diameter 2 mm wavelength µm used. highest efficacy achieved grass ( Alopecurus myosuroides ) had one leaf dicot species were cotyledon stage. There large difference between species’ susceptibility probably caused by differences morphology growth habit. At 4-leaf stage, most regrew after irradiation. may solution some crops, but general must irradiated they 2-leaf stage avoid regrowth.

Abstract Agriculture in Latin America plays a significant role the region’s economy, food security, and rural development. Although pest control has traditionally relied on chemicals, there is increasing adoption of sustainable agricultural practices. Thus, recent years, been growing emphasis agriculture practices, including biological control, to minimise environmental impact, conserve natural resources, ensure long-term productivity. In America, high biodiversity enhances both classical augmentative control. The use agents allows farmers produce their crops whilst reducing chemicals agriculture. addition, opens new market opportunities for job options youth areas. Maximal benefits will however be attained only after practices when an effective interaction among key stakeholders achieved. consumers can reap which incentivise accelerate at field level. While pesticides are essential to agriculture and food systems sustain current production levels, they also lead significant environmental impacts. The use of is constantly increasing globally, driven mainly by a further intensification agriculture, despite stricter regulations higher pesticide effectiveness. To the understanding future make informed farm-to-policy decisions, we developed Pesticide Agricultural Shared Socio-economic Pathways (Pest-AgriSSPs) in six steps. Pest-Agri-SSPs based on an extensive literature review expert feedback approach considering climate socio-economic drivers from farm continental scale combination with multiple actors impacting them. In literature, associated farmer behaviour practices, pest damage, technique efficiency application, agricultural policy demand production. Here, PestAgri-SSPs upon this relating them possible development as described for European (Eur-Agri-SSPs).The Pest-AgriSSPs explore five scenarios representing low high challenges mitigation adaptation up 2050. most sustainable scenario (Pest-Agri-SSP1) shows decrease owing technological advances better implementation policies. On contrary, Pest-Agri-SSP3 Pest-Agri-SSP4 show increase resulting pressure, resource depletion relaxed Pest-Agri-SSP2 presents stabilised policies slow transitions farmers practices. In recent years, there has been growing interest in promoting sustainable agriculture and reducing the environmental impact of food system. One approach to achieving these goals is through farm-to-Fork (FTF) sourcing, which involves direct procurement products from local farms restaurants table. This touted as a way support decrease carbon footprint supply chain. study aims explore relationship between farm-to-fork perceived economic benefit, sustainability. Specifically, research examines moderating effect benefit well mediating role sustainability sourcing practices. To investigate relationships, web-based questionnaire was designed collected 298 farmers. The data were analyzed via PLS-SEM. results suggest that positive on practices both have relationships. finding consistent with idea can lead benefits for farmers restaurants, while also

The European Union (EU) has set forth ambitious political objectives aimed at mitigating the adverse impacts of agriculture on climate, environment, and human health. Among measures which are expected to help reach goals, an important objective is significant reduction pesticide usage, as outlined in EU's "From Farm Fork" strategy. This study seeks assess potential financial implications use, focusing major crops cultivated Latvia. Scenario simulations have been conducted examine consequences usage intensity profitability, yields, consumption fertilisers. evaluation encompasses winter spring wheat, along with rapeseed, account for 80% total It assumed that farmers continue produce same crops, using their current level knowledge adjusting production technology reduced pesticides application rates. analysis leads conclusion order attain a use by 61% from 2021 (or 53% 2015-2017 level), rate needs be limited 0.78 kg ha −1 active substance conventionally produced wheat well addition area used these should 33% (replaced organic production). However, if market prices amount public support costs do not change, agricultural sector could severe – yearly farm profit analysed decrease 41% or EUR 130 mln.

This study aimed assess impacts SPI on non-target organism zebrafish (Danio rerio). Several concentrations were tested evaluate acute (0.07-1.0 mg/L) chronic (0.006-0.100 ecotoxicological effects. To sub-individual effects, antioxidant defense, lipid peroxidation, energy sources, cholinergic biomarkers quantified. In both exposures, induced significant effects defense indicating oxidative stress, disrupting pathways, exhibiting neurotoxic under environmentally relevant conditions. Integrated Biomarker Response (IBRv2) showed that with increasing concentrations, an increase organisms was recorded. demonstrates vulnerability SPI, safe.
